Start by naming any country that France borders. Then name any country that borders any of those countries. Then keep going until there are no more countries left to name.
You tried 'Smials', even though there's no M, L and only one S in the grid? You tried 'Hobbit-hole', even though there are no Os or Bs, no T, L and only one H in the grid? That's impressively hopeful.
Wow, I got them all ! only 3,5% score 100% :) dry was my last one, not sure how to look at it, as a verb or not. 2nd to last was the 9 letter word, and think the one before that was to enter as an enemy.
43 seconds left btw. and offer suggestions took me a bit of thought aswell, and red root, I was thinking shard, because I recently learned that word :) and knew it was from beets. Edit: I see now that that is chard with a c ;)
For split with others I got stuck for a bit wondering why halve wasn't working, then I realized they were all capital letters and the one in the upper left corner was an I not an L.
And got stuck backspacing it.
