There should be a clarification that British variations could be used. I had no idea what word ended in "dour".

Not the British version, it's the "non-USA" version, or the common version in English.

Whinge isn't used much in the USA, we usually say "whine" or "complain" instead. I mostly know it from Jetpunk.

I now know that what I'm about to type is whinge because I've just looked it up, but there definitely should be a warning on word puzzles if some of the answers are dialect-exclusive. As I type this on my computer in the U.S., "whinge" is underlined in red because it's not recognized as a word here.

I'm sure there's no shortage of puzzles with U.S-exclusive words that aren't marked as well. Good reminder for everyone making word puzzles. For example, give the Brits a heads up if you use the word, "eggplant" in your quiz.

Nice puzzle otherwise.

As other have said, "whinge" is British slang and "to knee" is very questionable as a verb. Otherwise, good quiz.
