Five Years of JetPunking

December 14th this year marks the fifth anniversary of my JetPunk account. This is a very special occasion that I think genuinely deserves a blog, so here it is.

Honestly, I'm not sure what to talk about in this blog. But one thing's for sure: it won't be an informative/educational blog, so if you're expecting one of those, this isn't the place to look. Anyway, I guess I'll just go over some history of my JetPunking on this occasion, as well as a few other things.

I was introduced to JetPunk around December 10th, 2020, by a YouTube video where a person tried to name all countries of the world. Like many other JetPunkers, COTW was the very first quiz I took. After taking that quiz I found out that there were so many other quizzes on the site that looked interesting, and so I played some of those. A few days into playing quizzes, I made my account on December 14th, 2020.

Shortly after that, I noticed that the site had a feature that allowed users to make their own quizzes. I found that quite interesting and thought, why can't I make some quizzes for others to enjoy? And this is when my quizmaking career officially started.

The first few quizzes I made weren't exactly on popular topics, so they didn't receive lots of takes right away. But despite this, I was still really excited to see my very own quizzes getting approved and going live!

Around a week into quizmaking, I figured that if I wanted more takes, then I had to make quizzes on popular topics. The first thing that came to my mind was COVID, which was still ravaging the world and a rather popular topic at that time. So then I began making (mostly) COVID-related quizzes. This continued for the next month or so.

After that, I took a three-month break from JetPunk and returned in April 2021. By this time, my quizzes began to branch out into other topics, such as countries, U.S. states, general knowledge, words, just to name a few. I remained mostly active on JetPunk until August 2021, when I left to take a break again.

I returned to JetPunk by late January 2022, just in time for the release of the nostalgic JetPunk Daily Word Search. While this may not seem much, it was truly a gamechanger to my quizmaking career, as well as my JetPunk activity in general.

The minigame brought in a brand new word-search puzzle every day, giving me strong incentive to stay active on the site. Apparently, it also increased JetPunk's traffic in general, with both new users coming in and old users staying "hooked" on the site like I was. As a result, for nearly all of 2022 and January 2023, I was active on the site pretty much on a daily basis, making and taking quizzes on various topics and of course, playing DWS every day.

I haven't had much activity on JetPunk after DWS ended, at least relatively. I returned to the site briefly in late 2023 and early 2024, and made a few quizzes. This may seem mundane and insignificant, but it was when one of the biggest events in my JetPunk career happened - I got my very first (and so far only) feature. In case you're wondering, that quiz is titled "Solve the Secret Question by Answering Questions".

I wasn't expecting that quiz to get a lot of takes, just like other quizzes of mine. But by this time I had learned that you can post your quizzes on Reddit to get some more takes, so I posted that quiz on Reddit. To my surprise, a few days later, QM commented on my Reddit post, saying something along the lines of "This was a great quiz that almost went under the radar". I was very excited and thought that the quiz might get featured. But apparently, QM wanted to do something else first.

Soon after, I received a notification on JetPunk that QM was giving me a month of Premium membership for free, as a reward for making an excellent quiz. While I was happy that I got it, I was rather disappointed as well since it looked like he wasn't sure about whether to feature my quiz. So I turned down my expectations again. (This works great if you're desperate for a feature, by the way.)

Finally, on March 15th, I woke up to a notification on JetPunk saying "Your quiz has been featured!". All of a sudden, I was pleasantly surprised. I can't describe how delighted I was. When I went into my user quizzes page, I immediately saw an orange star pop up next to that quiz's title. This was definitely one of the best moments in my entire JetPunking career.

To be perfectly honest, I'm glad that I posted that quiz on Reddit and that QM noticed it. Imagine what might happen if I hadn't posted that quiz - it probably would've gone unnoticed, and even by now I still might not have any featured quiz to my name. I was close to missing, but I still made it.

Also around this time, I figured that it was about time to take a break again. And this break turned out to be quite a long one. I stayed off JetPunk until about September 2025, when I returned again, which brings us to now.

Last but not least, I would like to thank everyone who has taken any of my quizzes. Without you, I wouldn't have 50k+ takes and be among the top 1,000 quizmakers by now.

I think that's about it for this blog! I know I'm releasing this a bit earlier than the actual five-year anniversary, but I just can't wait to put this out and share it with everyone. Hope you're okay with that.
