Message Board Recap - January 2025

Welcome to the fifth edition of "Message Board Recap"! Here's some (hopefully) interesting stats about the Message Board for the month of January 2025. This will be similar in format to MasterRocket's September 2024 blog (which I'm treating as the first edition), but not exactly the same.

- A total of 57 threads were made during the month of January 2025, giving an average of 1.84 threads per day.

- The days with the most threads were January 6 and 26, with 5 threads each.

- The days with the fewest threads were January 9 and 28, with no threads.

- A total of 40 unique users made at least one thread throughout the month, giving an average of 1.43 threads per user.

- Throughout the month, one user (DarthKnight) made 5 threads, one user (Nevson64) made 4 threads, three users made 3 threads each, another four made 2 threads each, and 31 made only one thread each.

The top 6 thread creators made 20 threads in total, or 35.1% of all January 2025 threads.

- All threads in January 2025 were liked 178 times in total, giving an average of 5.74 likes per day, 3.12 likes per thread, and 4.45 likes per unique user.

- The day with the most likes was January 26, with 23 likes.

- The day with the most likes per thread was January 16, with 11 likes and a single thread, averaging 11 likes per thread.

The top 6 like-getters received 81 likes in total, or 45.5% of all January 2025 likes.

Now let's look at the top 10 most-liked Message Board threads (all thread titles are exactly as they appear):

- All threads in January 2025 received 159 comments in total, giving an average of 5.13 comments per day, 2.79 comments per thread, and 3.98 comments per unique user.

- The day with the most comments was January 27, with 26 comments.

- The day with the most comments per thread was also January 27, with 26 comments and 3 threads, averaging 8.67 comments per thread.

The top 6 comment-getters received 79 comments in total, or 49.7% of all MB comments in January 2025.

Now let's look at the top 10 most commented threads (all thread titles are exactly as they appear):

Here's some other fun facts and stats that I think might be interesting.

The correct way to spell "JetPunk" is to either capitalize both the J and the P, or to capitalize neither. Here's a breakdown of how people did in thread titles:

✅ Both the J and the P were capitalized on 1 occasion;

✅ Neither the J nor the P was capitalized on 2 occasions;

❌ On another 3 occasions, the J was capitalized, but not the P.

Overall, "JetPunk" was correctly spelled on 3 out of 6 occasions, for a score of 50/100. Do better!

Here's a look into whether thread titles ended with a punctuation mark, and which ones:

- 1 thread (1.8%) ended in an ellipsis "…";

- 17 threads (29.8%) ended in a question mark "?";

- 4 threads (7.0%) ended in a period / full stop ".";

- 1 thread (1.8%) ended in a double quotation mark (");

- 6 threads (10.5%) ended in an exclamation mark "!";

- 28 threads (49.1%) did not end in a punctuation mark.

1. Length of Thread Titles

Have you noticed that some threads have much longer titles than others? Here's a look into the length of thread titles:

- All MB thread titles in January 2025 contained 1,735 characters in total (including spaces), for an average of 30.4 chars per title.

- The thread with the longest title was "How do you add numerous answer boxes in one question: Text Quiz?" by Canuckler, with 64 chars in its title.

- The thread with the shortest title was "Help" by svor829, with only 4 chars in its title.

2. Capitalization of Thread Titles

Even though they're technically "titles", not everyone on the MB adheres to Title Case in their thread titles. Here's a breakdown:

- 55 threads (96.5%) adhered to Sentence case by starting with a capital letter.

- Approximately 22 threads (38.6%) adhered to Title Case. Note that this is an "approximate" figure since there are slight variations in the exact rules of Title Case.
