Extras / Miscellaneous
Here's some other fun facts and stats that I think might be interesting.
Spelling of "JetPunk"
The correct way to spell "JetPunk" is to either capitalize both the J and the P, or to capitalize neither. Here's a breakdown of how people did in thread titles:
✅ Both the J and the P were capitalized on 2 occasions;
❌ On another 1 occasion, the J was capitalized, but not the P.
Overall, "JetPunk" was correctly spelled on 2 out of 3 occasions, for a score of 67/100.
Punctuation
Here's a look into whether thread titles ended with a punctuation mark, and which ones:
- 1 thread (1%) ended in an ellipsis "…";
- 25 threads (25%) ended in a question mark "?";
- 1 thread (1%) ended in a period / full stop ".";
- 2 threads (2%) ended in a right parenthesis ")";
- 7 threads (7%) ended in an exclamation mark "!";
- 64 threads (64%) did not end in a punctuation mark.
Length and Capitalization of Thread Titles
1. Length of Thread Titles
Have you noticed that some threads have much longer titles than others? Here's a look into the length of thread titles:
- All MB thread titles in May 2025 contained 2,950 characters in total (including spaces), for an average of 29.5 chars per title.
- The thread with the longest title was "Test Your Knowledge on Countries Using the Imperial System!" by Lexiconic, with 59 chars in its title.
- Two threads are tied for the shortest: "Why?" by Jeremy2011 and "help" by unregistered. Both threads have only 4 chars in their titles.
2. Capitalization of Thread Titles
Even though they're technically "titles", not everyone on the MB adheres to Title Case in their thread titles. Here's a breakdown:
- 97 threads (97%) adhered to Sentence case by starting with a capital letter.
- Approximately 44 threads (44%) adhered to Title Case. Note that this is an "approximate" figure since there are slight variations in the exact rules of Title Case.
Conclusion
This wraps up all the stats I have for the MB in May 2025. I hope you found it interesting. The next blog in this series will cover MB stats in the month of June 2025.
That's all for this blog, and see you in the next one.
