Message Board Recap - October 2024

A long time ago, MasterRocket made a blog with stats on the Message Board for the month of September 2024, but hasn't updated it since then. So I thought, what if I continued to collect MB stats for later months?

This was a great idea until I found that the MB didn't show every historical post. Thankfully, it's now confirmed that this behavior wasn't intended, and it has been fixed. That means I am now able to go back to the early days of the Message Board and collect data!

In this blog you'll find some (hopefully) interesting stats about the Message Board for the month of October 2024. This will be similar in format to MasterRocket's September 2024 blog, but it won't be exactly the same. I hope that's fine with you.

- A total of 72 threads were made during the month of October 2024, giving an average of 2.32 threads per day.

- The days with the most threads were October 9 and October 24, with 7 threads each.

- The days with the fewest threads were October 12, 13, 16, 18, 19, 25 and 27, with no threads.

- A total of 44 unique users made at least one thread throughout the month, giving an average of 1.64 threads per user.

- Three users made 5 threads each throughout the month, another three made 3 threads each, 10 users made 2 threads each, and 28 made only one thread each.

The top 6 thread creators made 24 threads in total, or one-third of all October 2024 threads.

- All threads in October 2024 were liked 197 times in total, giving an average of 6.35 likes per day, 2.74 likes per thread, and 4.48 likes per unique user.

- The day with the most likes was October 9, with 28 likes.

- The day with the most likes per thread was October 7, with 27 likes and 3 threads, averaging 9 likes per thread.

The top 6 like-getters received 88 likes in total, or 44.7% of all October 2024 likes.

Now let's look at the top 10 most-liked Message Board threads:

- All threads in October 2024 received 223 comments in total, giving an average of 7.19 comments per day, 3.10 comments per thread, and 5.07 comments per unique user.

- The day with the most comments was October 14, with 37 comments.

- The day with the most comments per thread was October 2, with 11 comments and a single thread, averaging 11 comments per thread.

The top 6 (or really, top 7) comment-getters received 102 comments in total, or 45.7% of all MB comments in October 2024.

Here's some other fun facts and stats that I think might be interesting.

The correct way to spell "JetPunk" is to either capitalize both the J and the P, or to capitalize neither. Here's a breakdown of how people did in thread titles (not thread content or comments though, that would be too much grind for me):

- Both the J and the P were capitalized on 2 occasions;

- Neither the J nor the P was capitalized on 2 occasions;

- On another 4 occasions, the J was capitalized, but not the P.

Apparently, some people still weren't aware of the correct spelling of the name of the very website they're on.

Here's a look into whether thread titles ended with a punctuation mark, and which ones:

- 33 threads ended in a question mark "?";

- 3 threads ended in a period / full stop ".";

- 1 thread ended in a right parenthesis ")";

- 1 thread ended in a double quotation mark (");

- 4 threads ended in an exclamation mark "!";

- 30 threads did not end in a punctuation mark.

This wraps up all the stats I have for the MB in October 2024. I hope you found it interesting. I might go through later months and collect stats in the future when I feel like it, but there's no guarantee since this already took me quite some time and effort to put together.
