Message Board Recap - October 2025

Welcome to the 14th edition of "Message Board Recap"! Here's some (hopefully) interesting stats about the Message Board for the month of October 2025. This will be similar in format to MasterRocket's September 2024 blog (which I'm treating as the first edition), but not exactly the same.

- A total of 90 threads were made during the month of October 2025, giving an average of 2.90 threads per day.

- The days with the most threads were October 3, 14, 19, 24, 28 and 30, with 5 threads each.

- The days with the fewest threads were October 10, 17, 22, 25, 26 and 31, with one thread each.

- A total of 52 unique users made at least one thread throughout the month, giving an average of 1.73 threads per user.

- Throughout the month, four users made 5 threads each, two users made 4 threads each, three users made 3 threads each, 10 users made 2 threads each, and 33 made one thread each.

The top 6 thread creators made 28 threads in total, or 31.1% of all October 2025 threads.

- All threads in October 2025 were liked 626 times in total, giving an average of 20.2 likes per day, 6.96 likes per thread, and 12.0 likes per unique user.

- The day with the most likes was October 14, with 55 likes.

- The day with the most likes per thread was also October 14, with 55 likes and 5 threads, averaging 11 likes per thread.

The top 6 like-getters received 199 likes in total, or 31.8% of all October 2025 likes.

Now let's look at the top 10 most-liked Message Board threads (all thread titles are exactly as they appear):

Here are the top 10 users with the most total likes year-to-date (through October 31, 2025):

- All threads in October 2025 received 1,033 comments in total, giving an average of 33.3 comments per day, 11.5 comments per thread, and 19.9 comments per unique user.

- The day with the most comments was October 30, with 74 comments.

- The day with the most comments per thread was October 26, with 39 comments and a single thread, averaging 39 comments per thread.

The top 6 comment-getters received 378 comments in total, or 36.6% of all MB comments in October 2025.

Now let's look at the top 10 most commented threads (all thread titles are exactly as they appear):

Here's some other fun facts and stats that I think might be interesting.

The correct way to spell "JetPunk" is to either capitalize both the J and the P, or to capitalize neither. Here's a breakdown of how people did in thread titles:

✅ Both the J and the P were capitalized on 4 occasions;

❌ On another 3 occasions, the J was capitalized, but not the P.

Overall, "JetPunk" was correctly spelled on 4 out of 7 occasions, for a score of 57/100.

Here's a look into whether thread titles ended with a punctuation mark, and which ones:

- 1 thread (1.1%) ended in an ellipsis "…";

- 1 thread (1.1%) ended in a "‽" (I'm not sure what that's called);

- 1 thread (1.1%) ended in a double quotation mark (");

- 19 threads (21.1%) ended in a question mark "?";

- 1 thread (1.1%) ended in a period / full stop ".";

- 3 threads (3.3%) ended in a right parenthesis ")";

- 8 threads (8.9%) ended in an exclamation mark "!";

- 56 threads (62.2%) did not end in a punctuation mark.

1. Length of Thread Titles

Have you noticed that some threads have much longer titles than others? Here's a look into the length of thread titles:

- All MB thread titles in October 2025 contained 2,794 characters in total (including spaces), for an average of 31.0 chars per title.

- The thread with the longest title was "Which book are you currently reading and would you recommend it?" by Swatcat, with 64 chars in its title.

- Two threads are tied for the shortest title: "Top 100" by Syrext and "SVG Bug" by Jeremy2011. Both threads have only 7 chars in their titles.

2. Capitalization of Thread Titles

Even though they're technically "titles", not everyone on the MB adheres to Title Case in their thread titles. Here's a breakdown:

- 89 threads (98.9%) adhered to Sentence case by starting with a capital letter.

- Approximately 40 threads (44.4%) adhered to Title Case. Note that this is an "approximate" figure since there are slight variations in the exact rules of Title Case.
