Ranking the X-Men from X-Men ‘97

+2

15. Jubilee

While Jubilee was really upgraded from the original series, um, she’s still kinda boring here. She really only serves as a filler role — all her appearances are lame.

She needs better fight scenes and stuff. It’s true. She’s not the best character.

14. Bishop

Bishop’s a cool character with cool powers, but he’s really underused here. He makes appearances in 4 out of 10 episodes, despite being advertised A LOT.

He’s a very interesting concept and it would be cool to really go in-depth for his character.

13. Professor X

The leader returns. But nobody really wanted him back, and while it’s pleasant, nobody cares. Enough said.

12. Morph

Okay, let’s talk about Morph. Morph can shapeshift, an interesting power. But really under-utilised. Morph really only serves as a role for cool cameos and nothing really else. Also, the whole Morph nonbinary thing is try-hard. They could’ve dropped that.

It would be loads better if Morph actually achieved something cool while in a different form. Not just like, “MORPH SMASH!”, and it’s done.

11. Sunspot

Amazing. Roberto da Costa, the disowned heir. His powers are AWESOME, and his personality is instantly likeable. However, he just needs more action scenes, and he’s already cooler than his gf.

10. Jean Grey

Definitely stepped up from last season where she was useless. Now, she’s useful, and her storyline was amazing. The whole clone thingy and the baby! Dope.

9. Cable

Time-travelling. Hulky. Guns. Long-lost son. Okay, done.

8. Rogue

Rogue. Not bad. She’s got a very complicated storyline, a love triangle, and powers. She’s the centre of attention when she becomes an antihero. Noice.

7. Beast

Beast’s quotes, strength and science make him the perfect blend of brains, brawn and blue. His goofy look makes the experience so much better when watching, and his quotes hit the spot.

6. Cyclops

They finally gave him emotion. This ramps up his interest level, makes him overall cooler, and makes fans happy. He also shows the full force of his powers now, which is so much sweeter.

5. Wolverine

Logan has always been interesting. His claws, his gruffness, his healing, loneliness, blah blah blah etc.

4. Storm

The whole Storm storyline where she loses her powers and gets them back is veeerrrry nice. The Adversary is also a good villain (cos its creepy). The Forge relationship is kinda weird, but makes sense.

3. Nightcrawler

Bamf. Nightcrawler is so charming with his religious roots and fuzzy elf feel. The way he fights is epic, No-one can beat that… except two.

2. Magneto

Bow before the master of magnetism. His story arc is beautifully done. From villain to hero to villain to hero. He’s so complicated, but that’s what makes him so cool.

1. Gambit

Gambit is the best, nes c’est pas? His Cajun charm and explosive personality makes it impossible for you to hate him. Moreover, his sacrifice and Omega status was crazy, and his future role as Apocalypse’s horseman, Death, is epic. Everything about him was perfectly planned.
