The Oldest JetPunk Accounts

If you're reading this, then you're likely an avid JetPunker, meaning that you have probably noticed the number that comes up in a hyperlink to your (or any other user's) list of quizzes. This is the user's ID number, though this terminology is scarcely used. You've probably noticed that higher numbers correspond to newer accounts whereas lower numbers refer to older accounts. In other words, a user's ID number n indicates that that user is the nth user to join JetPunk. This naturally made me wonder: who have the low numbers? That is, what accounts here on JetPunk are the oldest? Are they still active?

Let's delve into those questions and see what the first accounts are!

Note: Now I do want to give a disclaimer that the oldest users may not have been quizmakers, meaning that I was unable to locate their accounts since it's the link to a user's list of quizzes that utilizes the ID number, not simply the user name. So there are several older accounts that we will have to skip over because they never created quizzes (or their account ended up being removed).

It likely comes at no surprise that the owner and creator of JetPunk has ID number 1. Quizmaster's account was created over 15 years ago! His oldest quiz is the infamous Countries of the World, which has July 14, 2011 listed as its date of first submission, though the quiz is older than that date.

If my JetPunk lore is correct, this account belongs to Quizmaster's brother, who no longer actively takes/makes quizzes on JetPunk. As far as I can tell, johnnyaitch's oldest quiz is Prime Numbers 1-100 with an initial submission date of November 11, 2011 (which is 11/11/11!).

This user's oldest quiz is Random Friends Trivia from April 6, 2013. This user appears to no longer be active, with their most recent comment being from November of 2013.

We now skip ahead some as users with ID numbers from 4 to 8 either never published a quiz or deleted their account. This user is still relatively active seeing as in 1-2 years several quizzes have been updated. Moreover, recent comments from the user can be found, even as recent as 2 days ago on U.S. Presidents in Order - Whammies. dwo's first published quiz appears to be Languages of India, first published in early January, 2013. It's also worth noting that this user impressively sits at a cumulative level of 109.

This user has one quiz, first submitted on May 12, 2012. I could gather no signs of activity from this user since 2012.

We now skip to user 18, whose first and only quiz was submitted just before Halloween of 2012. The user has only one comment from the same day.

We now make a huge jump to ID 56, whose first and only quiz is Countries The Use the Euro, first submitted April 26, 2012.

We make an even bigger jump to Hdny42, whose oldest quiz (NHL Hockey Conn Smythe Trophy Winners) dates back to May of 2012. This user has appeared to continue their activity, with comments on quizzes scattered throughout the years since 2011. The most recent I found was from February of 2024.

And there we have it: out of the first 300 users, those are the only 8 that have created quizzes.

I suspect we see such huge jumps because creating quizzes was a feature that wasn't initially available until 2011 (I believe?). Therefore, unless early users were invested in JetPunk, they probably didn't stick around long enough to see user quizzes become possible.
