Spider-Man: Brand New Day Teaser Thoughts

Woah… it didn’t hit me until now that this is the direct sequel to Spider-Man: No Way Home. For how big No Way Home was, it really seems like Brand New Day will not be any downgrade. Destin Daniel Cretton’s style shows a lot in this trailer, and I think it was definitely the right move for the Spider-Man franchise. I expect the action to be super impressive, especially given Cretton’s work on Shang-Chi. I also wasn’t expecting such a heavy continuation of the MJ/Ned plotline, and I’m really curious how that will integrate into the main story. I also noticed… Bruce Banner wasn’t stuck in Smart Hulk form anymore… how did that happen… what does it mean…? What are your biggest takeaways from the trailer? How high is your anticipation for the movie? Spider-Man: Brand New Day will debut in theaters on July 31.

Lanterns Trailer Thoughts

I’m not particularly impressed with this trailer, for a trailer that seemed to be pitching itself as a more galactic series… but this looks to be more like a grounded Western series. That’s just weird to me. There’s a lot of potential you could do with a Green Lantern show, and based on this trailer it seems like they’re really holding back. Especially based on what we’ve seen from Superman and trailers from Supergirl, the DCU is much more colorful like the comics. This trailer seems dull- where’s the green?? Superman was so refreshing because of how vibrant it was, and as far as I know, that’s what fans want. I feel like this show needs a pivotal change of direction before its release in my opinion. It could end up being good, but I don’t know if that’s the correct direction you want to go for a Green Lantern series. How do you feel about the trailer? Do you think it lacks stylistically or do you think there’s something good in store story-wise? Lanterns will begin streaming on Max in August.

MCU Disney+ Updates (Daredevil, Wonder Man, Punisher)

There are three majors updates in regards to MCU Disney+ projects coming out of March. The first is that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has begun streaming… which I have not started watching yet. I’m still unsure whether I should watch all of the defenders series before watching Daredevil: Born Again. If you guys have been watching Daredevil: Born Again, what do you suggest I do? Second piece of news is that Wonder Man has been renewed for a second season. Unfortunately my busy schedule has prevented me from watching the first season, but I’ve heard good things. It makes sense that a second season is on the way. Third, the Punisher special presentation that had been announced within the last year has finally received its official title and release date. The presentation will be titled The Punisher: One Last Kill, and will release onto Disney+ on May 12. What are your thoughts on these updates?

Moon Knight Recasting

Back in November, Oscar Isaac shared his political disagreement with Disney's temporary shutdown of the Jimmy Kimmel show. In response, he declared his decision to refrain from working with Disney in the future. However, with Marvel's continued plan to include the Moon Knight character in Avengers: Doomsday (probably Avengers: Secret Wars as well), it makes sense that they went out to find replacements for the role. It was announced that Denzel Washington will portray an older version of the character for the movie. Washington plans to reprise his role in Black Panther 3, which is set to release in 2028. I'm pretty confused by this casting. I'm not sure why the decision went to having an older actor instead of getting someone Oscar Isaac age and potentially continuing the solo story of Moon Knight. Why do you think they made this casting? What do you think of this April fools joke?

Is Ghost Rider Entering the MCU Soon?

Ryan Gosling, who has recently been doing interviews to promote his new movie Project Hail Mary, was asked if he has been talked to by Marvel Studios, specifically if he's been asked to play the character Ghost Rider. Gosling confirmed to the interviewer that he has had conversations with the studio. Should this casting follow through, how do you feel about the casting? I don't feel like it would necessarily be the right move to make a Ghost Rider solo project, especially a movie. I guess I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a solo project, but | also have no idea what Marvel's plan is after Secret Wars, so maybe it'll fit their plans better than I'd expect. Would you like to see a solo Ghost Rider project in the future? If not, what projects would you like to see the character appear in?

What to Watch This April?

I just finished watching Wonder Man a few days ago. It's really cool and (in my opinion obviously) the best thing for Marvel television since Hawkeye. It's definitely worth a watch and I'm really glad they're making a second season (through it probably won't be coming out until 2028 or 2029 most likely).

Ryan Gosling as Ghost Rider is not something I would have ever expected. Seems like a couple of confusing casting choices here.

On the other hand, the Spider-Man trailer looks epic! Can't wait for that one

I mean I see it a little bit. I've seen him play a few of those daredevil kind of roles (no pun intended), so I could picture. I'm personally in no rush to see this character in the MCU, let alone a solo movie, so who really knows where this will go.

You mentioned that there have been "a couple of confusing cast choices"... what other castings have you felt are out of place? Just curious :)
