Deadpool & Wolverine Thoughts

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

This movie... was a masterpiece. This movie was SO hilarious and it did an incredible job at captivating its audience. And the cameos!!! Seeing Chris Evans had me in such shock, and it was SO cool seeing him as Human Torch again. It was weird when I saw him on screen, like I didn't even have in my mind that he could not be playing Captain America. But as soon as he said "Flame on" I started freaking out. The last time I heard about any possible reappearance from Chris Evans' Human Torch were rumors back during the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. That movie came out two years ago, and with him not appearing in that movie, it had me completely lose sight of the possibility that he could have appeared here. It was so great seeing Dafne Keen back as Laura in the Marvel universe. It was weird seeing her as an adult, and seeing how her character has changed since Logan. It's a little confusing to me as to why she is in the Void in the first place, but I kinda don't care. I feel that character's appearance was worth it. And Wesley Snipes back as Blade?! I haven't seen the Blade movies yet, but I'm cultured enough to know those movies' significance and impact on Marvel's movies. Blade came out in 1998 was the first theatrical Marvel movie since Howard the Duck (1986), and this movie kickstarted the Marvel film era. X-Men followed two years later, and we all know how that has gone on to impact superhero films and Hollywood as a whole. I had absolutely no suspicion he would make an appearance, so that was definitely shocking. A little embarrassing though that Wesley Snipes has had another appearance as Blade after 20 years, before Mahershala Ali has played the character. And GAMBIT?! This cameo I had on my radar just since it felt like a very likely possibility, so I was pumped when I saw Channing Tatum finally in the Gambit costume. And Jennifer Garner back as Elektra was awesome too (her joke jabbing at Ben Affleck's Daredevil was insane lol). Those were the main cameos, but there were so many others things to catch throughout (especially from Cassandra Nova's crew). I'm also glad these characters weren't just lifeless cameos, but they had worthiness to the plot, like how Spider-Man: No Way Home brought in Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. But this movie was so amazing. It was so fun watching the MCU let loose and finally go rated R, because so many elements of previous MCU movies were able to be amplified in this one (especially the jokes). I also loved the tribute to the 20th Century Fox era of Marvel during the credits. Even though some of those movies weren't great (like Dark Phoenix and X-Men: Apocalypse), I liked that they included clips of each of them. I would rate this movie 9.6/10.

Here is my "Deadpool & Wolverine Quiz (SPOILERS)." Feel free to check it out :)

Also, the movie had an absolutely AWESOME intro!! Everything about it was perfect.

Captain America: Brave New World Teaser Thoughts

This trailer is really exciting. I enjoyed The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, but it's not in my favorites for the MCU shows that have released on Disney+. With the track record of the MCU lately, I have been especially worried for this movie, but this trailer helped me worry less. This trailer makes it seem that this movie will be embracing a similar vibe to Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Like an intense spy thriller. I'm all for it. And the appearance of Red Hulk at the end of the trailer is SUPER cool, and it probably would have been cooler if the McDonald's toys hadn't spoiled that... But it's also interesting seeing Giancarlo Esposito finally in the MCU. I had really expected him to take on a larger name role, like the rumored Professor X or Magneto, so I'm interested to see how Marvel uses him for this film (the reveal of his character is included later in the article). Overall, this trailer has me hooked. Captain America: Brave New World will release in theaters on February 14, 2025.

Agatha All Along Teaser Thoughts

Well, it doesn’t necessarily look bad. It looks not much different than all the other shows, but now that it has the Marvel Television label instead of Marvel Studios, that entails that it isn’t necessarily super important for the overarching plot of the MCU. With that said, I don’t know that I’ll be having that much motivation to actually watch the show. I will, but at least with the other shows it’s felt like it was important. Like Agatha All Along feels like the Marvel animated shows in how they’re a little irrelevant. Nonetheless, cool trailer. Agatha All Along will be streaming on Disney+ on September 18 and run through November 6.

CRAZY SDCC UPDATES!!

Robert Downey Jr. being announced to play Doctor Doom in “Avengers: Doomsday”

Wow. Okay, this presentation did not reveal what I had expected, and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I had been going into this thinking they were going to do another slate reveal, like they did in 2022. However, they instead shared several huge details. First of all, they confirmed that the celestials are made of adamantium, which is stronger than vibranium. There was also an exclusive trailer shown for the Thunderbolts* film. They specified that Thunderbolt Ross will not be in the movie (possibly the reason for the title’s asterisk). They also announced a title change for the Fantastic Four movie, changing it to “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” They showed a sneak peek teaser composed of test footage- which you may be able to find online ;). Official filming for the movie started Tuesday, July 30. Finally, the two biggest pieces of news from this event… The Russo Brothers (the directors of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame) are returning to direct Avengers 5 and 6, with Avengers 5 now officially titled “Avengers: Doomsday.” And the biggest reveal yet, the Russo brothers announced Robert Downey Jr. as the casting for Doctor Doom. This is such a shock. I never would have thought RDJ would come back, and definitely not like this. I am honestly clueless as to how this move will be played out in these Avengers films, but I’m open to it, and I trust the Russo brothers to give us something great.

Marvel’s upcoming movie slate includes:

Captain America: Brave New World (February 14, 2025)

Thunderbolts* (May 2, 2025)

The Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 25, 2025)

Blade (November 7, 2025)

Avengers: Doomsday (May 1, 2026)

Avengers: Secret Wars (May 7, 2027)

Batman Universe Confirmed

Matt Reeves’ The Batman from 2022 was the beginning of a universe including several Batman characters. This universe, formally referred to as The BatVerse, has now been officially renamed to The Batman Epic Crime Saga. This will include projects like The Penguin, The Batman Part II, and other projects planned to release.

Creature Commandos Trailer Thoughts

Yeah this trailer looks interesting enough. I haven’t ever really gotten myself fully invested in many animated shows (at least ones I take seriously), so I don’t have a whole lot of hype for this show. I also don’t have Max, which will be a problem considering this show and The Penguin will be releasing soon. However, I did find this trailer to be interesting enough. Creature Commandos is scheduled to stream on Max in December of this year.

The Penguin Trailer Thoughts

For some reason I haven’t been feeling super excited about this show either. I think it’s because I like The Penguin, but I don’t know if I really need him to have his own show. I could be corrected and find this thing to be incredible, but I won’t really know until I see it (whenever that is, since I don’t have Max). But it’s excited to see the Batman Epic Crime Saga expand. The Penguin will be streaming on Max on September 19, and run through November 7.

DC Studios Fanfare Revealed

The official logo for DC Studios was finally revealed this July, and you can see what it looks like in the picture above. It stands true to the traditional DC logos from past years. The studio has also made a “fanfare,” which is an intro for each movie (similar to the Marvel Studios intro). You can watch the fanfare online!

Thank You!

Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this month's CQMB. Be sure to stay tuned for the next CQMB which will release on the first of September.

Yeah!! The MCU is getting better!!

Deadpool & Wolverine is basically redemption, and RDJs shock return will almost certainly be brilliant, he's a good actor and the Russos are good directors. I never saw it coming in a million years!

Captain America 4 hopefully can continue the quality uptick. Time to go update the quiz!

Thanks Claptime

Thanks for the recap as always. I’m looking forward to some of these marvel films, which is a change since I haven’t seen a new MCU film in theaters in over 2 years.

Been away for the summer but I'm back!

Deadpool and Wolverine was so good, the Chris Evans cameo was crazy! I totally agree with what you said- actually integrating cameo characters into the story instead of a quick quip or one scene, much like No Way Home.

I'm lowkey excited for Brave New World, the trailer looked good, and I am really happy they brought the action back to real world, choreographed fight scenes rather than random over the top CGI junk.

Agatha is going to be so hit or miss- Even if its good, its going to have to be REALLY good to be memorable. Either that, or its going to be so mid no one will pay attention to it.

RDJ as Doctor Doom would be so sick, I think Marvel has huge potential with this villain.

Great blog as always!
