December ‘25 CQMB - Avengers, Lanterns, Moon Knight, & More

The upcoming DCU show Lanterns, based around John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) and Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) as Green Lantern, has been delayed from Spring 2026 to late Summer 2026. This delay was apparently made to allow for more time for VFX, as the original release wouldn’t have fit as well into HBO’s VFX schedule.

Confirmed before any other actors, the first actor to officially be a part of Avengers: Secret Wars is… Sadie Sink? She was confirmed to be a cast member this month, before any other long-standing MCU actors. Does this mean her role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day is that significant? I’m a little confused. It’s interesting too that there’s nothing about her being in Avengers: Doomsday. Even more interestingly, Tom Holland has not been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday either. It leads me to believe Spider-Man will have a large role in Avengers: Secret Wars. What do you think? Avengers: Secret Wars will be in theaters on December 17, 2027.

Despite having never been integrated into the MCU outside of his self-titled TV show, Moon Knight will no longer be a part of the MCU (probably). The reason is because Oscar Isaac has stopped working with Disney. He left the company after the controversy over the temporary cancelation of the Jimmy Kimmel Show. Isaac became very clear that the situation felt unjust to him, thus prompting him to leave the company. What are your thoughts on his departure? It looks like we won’t be getting anymore Poe Dameron either.

This month it was announced that a Superman spinoff TV show would be coming to HBO Max. That spinoff is a show with Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo) as one of the lead characters. Not that I’m worried this show will be bad, but I’m just worried about James Gunn’s priorities. What makes a connected universe so captivating is when all the projects are tied together in one way or another. I just don’t want the universe to feeling stagnant with another low profile show. I feel like if they went through with the Waller show it would be the same thing. What do you think about this announcement? Is this a show you’re excited for?

It seems pretty legit that this movie’s trailer will release alongside the theatrical debut of Avatar: Fire and Ash. The Avatar franchise reliably generates billions of dollars in box office revenue, so it makes sense for Disney to promote as much of their property as they can. A movie like Avengers: Doomsday, with the potential of being a huge box office success, could use this kind of promotion, which is why I think we can expect to see a possible teaser played before Avatar. Do you think this will happen? How much do you think they’ll show? Avatar: Fire and Ash will be in theaters on December 19. Avengers: Doomsday will be in theaters on December 18, 2026.
