Ironheart… full review coming in August CQMB
I haven’t watched the first three episodes yet, but I figured since the last three episodes come out tonight, I would wait until the August CQMB to give my full review. What do you think about the first three episodes so far? Ironheart’s final three episodes will be releasing on Disney+ tonight (July 1) at 9ET/6PT.
The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day
This announcement was pretty shocking. Given we already got confirmation that Hulk would play a supporting role in this movie, it seems like a bit much that now The Punisher will also have a role. I don’t really know what to expect from this movie, but nonetheless I’m sure it ties into The Punisher Special Presentation coming out next year. I trust Daniel Destin Cretton as director, so this announcement doesn’t worry me that much. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will release in theaters on July 31, 2026.
MCU X-Men Director Announced
Thunderbolts* director, Jake Schreier will be directing the MCU’s iteration of X-Men. This is exciting since Thunderbolts* was the most recent movie to break the copy-and-paste MCU mold. The movie was very enjoyable, and he’s proven capable of making quality team-up movies. I have high hopes for this film. This film is presumably part of the upcoming MCU saga, once the Multiverse Saga concludes. Following Secret Wars, it has been highly speculated that the MCU will reboot into a mutant focused universe, rather than the Avengers. Kevin Feige has implied that they will be going down the X-Men route with their films, but it doesn’t sound quite like they’ll be fully rebooting the existing MCU franchise. Recent reports have stated that Thor 5 will be released post-Secret Wars, and more details have been released with that announcement.
Thor 5 Details
This June, it was made public that Thor 5 is in the works at Marvel Studios. Additionally, Taika Waititi will NOT be returning to direct. That news alone has given MCU fans, including me, a sigh of relief given the trainwreck Thor: Love and Thunder was. The movie will begin filming by the end of this year, and it seems as if it will release as a part of the next saga of the MCU. I thought they would kill off Thor in Secret Wars or something, but I guess they’re going to continue his story. No release date has been attached to this film. What are your thoughts on these details?
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow New Title
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has been retitled to “Supergirl”. This is the same thing that happened to Superman, as it was retitled from “Superman: Legacy”. I don’t mind these changes, but I also don’t mind secondary titles. Like sometimes what makes anticipation for an MCU movie increase is the title. The speculation that built with the title announcement of Spider-Man: No Way Home I would argue helped with the marketing and whatnot. I don’t know. I don’t have a problem with this new title, but when I heard about a new title for the movie I was hoping for something a little more exciting.
