Joker: Folie à Deux Thoughts (SPOILERS… EVEN THOUGH I DIDN’T WATCH IT)
Spoiler-Free Section:
Who would have ever thought this movie would do so bad. As you see in the heading, I haven't seen the movie, but holy- I would have never thought it would have done this bad. I know there was a stigma about the movie being a musical, but I mean, I figured it wasn't that big of a deal. I was trusting the artistic process and reasoning of that decision, and I figured since the last movie did so well they would for sure find a way to make this work.
But I guess it didn't, because this movie has the worst rating for a comic book movie on CinemaScore, and its Rotten Tomatoes rating is worse than Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and Eternals. Yowza.
What's kind of funny to me is learning about how this movie came about. The first Joker film from 2019 was intended to be a standalone movie, and apparently lead actor, Joaquin Phoenix, had a dream about Joker, and pitched the idea to director Todd Phillips. Had the movie been a success, I would have thought this was really interesting, but it is kind of laughable knowing that this is the whole reason they went through the trouble to make a sequel.
I honestly feel bad though, because there was a lot of true talent going into this film, and for this to flop this bad is pretty embarrassing.
*SPOILER WARNING*
After the movie’s release, I kept hearing about a controversial ending happening in the film. Weirdly enough though, after weeks of being on the internet it never got spoiled for me. But eventually, I just was talking to a friend about it and he told me all about it. And I am confused.
So apparently, Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker is killed at the end of the movie by a new Joker…? Maybe? I don’t know what they were going for here, but it sounds dumb, which is why I understand everyone’s distaste for this sequence.
It's also shocking how poorly this movie is doing at the box office. The first Joker made over a billion dollars, and this movie is has made 70 million dollars LESS than THE FLASH! That is absolutely embarrassing. As of October 31, this movie has only made 201M, and its theater run is nearing its end. That’s wild.
Venom: The Last Dance Thoughts (SPOILERS- I DID SEE THIS ONE)
*SPOILERS THROUGHOUT*
Out of all the Venom movies in this trilogy, this one had some of the highest highs and the lowest lows… I’m talking about quality by the way.
Most of the actors had some of the cringiest performances I’ve seen on the big screen. Like, the one intern or whoever she was- that was so hard to watch.
There were so many other bad performances, but obviously the standout for good quality was Tom Hardy as Eddie and Venom. They’re so fun to watch in each movie, and those two characters make every movie seem way better than they actually are.
I’m not totally surprised Venom died at the end- I wasn’t sure if Eddie would have too, but it makes more sense that it was just Venom. Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rhys Ifans had a few standout moments, and overall, this movie was enjoyable. I would rate it 6.2/10.
Agatha All Along Thoughts?
Sorry to disappoint, but I still haven't watched any of Agatha All Along. I'm actually pretty bummed about this because I've surprisingly heard that it was actually pretty good. I've just been pretty busy lately so I haven't gotten around to it. The series concluded on October 30th.
If I watch it this month, would you guys want me to write about it in the December CQMB? (I'm not saying that I for sure will be able to, just wondering if you guys think your interest level for it will still be there by then).
Also, I know who the “Teen” is. I just won’t spoil that if I don’t have anything else to say about the show.
Superman Tease
James Gunn posted a teaser photo for the upcoming Superman movie showing David Corenswet's Superman next to the famous super-dog, Krypto. I like the concept, and it looks like it will be a fun addition to the film. Superman will be in theaters on July 11.
Spider-Man 4 Details (+ Release Date)
So it seems like this movie may have a heavier Sony influence, as a few reports state that Knull from Venom: The Last Dance will be in the film. Please no. Please. Keep Sony separate, Marvel! But also- we now have an official release date for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4. Spider-Man 4 will be in theaters on July 24, 2026.
The MCU Blade Movie Has Been Delayed Again
The movie got delayed without a release date, so we no longer know when this movie will come out. It was supposed to come out on November 7, 2025, but now we have no idea. For all we know, this could even come out after The Multiverse Saga. But it seems like the movie isn’t canceled as far as I know, so don’t lose all hope.
Speaking of release dates…
Marvel 2025 Disney+ Slate
Marvel released a sizzle reel in October revealing release dates for several Marvel shows that have just been on the table for the several few years. Now we finally have some clarity.
First of all, you should watch this teaser yourself since there’s a whole lot to cover- I’ll get the big details like release dates and all, but this trailer is really cool and definitely worth watching.
First we find out that Deadpool & Wolverine will be on Disney+ on November 12.
Next we found out that What If…? Season 3 (the last season of the series) is dropping its first episode on December 22. I’m not sure if they’re doing daily releases of episodes like they did last year, but I kinda don’t care. What If…? is very boring.
Third, the first release date for 2025 is the animated show, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, whose first episode is releasing on January 29. In the trailer they reveal the animation style and a short clip from the show.
Next was the confirmed release date for Daredevil: Born Again, which will start dropping its episodes on March 4. The sizzle reel showed several scenes from this show. As far as I know, it seems to be maintaining its darker tone from the Netflix Daredevil series. We also saw a short clip of Matt Murdock with Ms. Marvel’s dad. I don’t know what this is for, but at least we’re seeing some interconnections between each of the MCU projects.
After Daredevil: Born Again, the next show we’ll receive is Ironheart, which will premiere on June 24. We see clips of Riri’s suits, as well as the villain, The Hood, played by Anthony Ramos. Apparently, actor Sacha Baron Cohen will be playing Mephisto in this series as well. It’s about time! I mentioned this casting in one of my earlier CQMBs, and it’s interesting how this far into the future, it’s finally coming into fruition.
Following Ironheart is the animated show Eyes of Wakanda on August 6. This show will have 4 different episodes each telling a different story about Wakanda.
And then, without specific release days, are Marvel Zombies, coming October 2025, and Wonder Man, coming December 2025, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the titular role.
TL;DR:
Deadpool & Wolverine on Disney+ - November 12
What If…? Season 3 - December 22
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man - January 29, 2025
Daredevil: Born Again - March 4, 2025
Ironheart - June 24, 2025
Eyes of Wakanda - August 6, 2025
Marvel Zombies - October 2025
Wonder Man - December 2025
Those are all the announcements there were in the video, but once again, I highly recommend checking that video out.
Spider-Man Noir is Filming!
The Spider-Man Noir show announced several months ago starring Nicolas Cage has started filming. Nicolas Cage voiced Spider-Man Noir in the Spider-Verse films, and will be reprising his role in live action. The show will be on MGM+ and Prime in 2025 (I think), so yeah.
Aaron Pierre Cast as John Stewart for the Lanterns Series
The upcoming show Lanterns will be a part of James Gunn’s DCU. In September we learned that Kyle Chandler will be playing Hal Jordan in the series, another Green Lantern, and just this month DC revealed that Aaron Pierre will be playing John Stewart. Lanterns will stream on Max likely in 2025.
Vision Show Officially in the Works
We heard back in 2022 that Marvel was allegedly working on a Marvel series titled “Vision Quest,” but since then it’s been in question whether Marvel canceled the project or not. Now we know for sure that Marvel is going through with making this series.
It seems like this series will be the conclusion to the WandaVision trilogy (1: WandaVision, 2: Agatha All Along, 3: Vision show). It will follow White Vision through whatever journeys he goes on. The show is slated to release in 2026 and will feature the return of James Spader’s Ultron.
Creature Commandos Trailer
A new trailer for the first DCU show, Creature Commandos, released this October and it looks interesting. I’m not really interested in animated shows that much, and I’m sure it wouldn’t be hard to get into this show, but I don’t have the Max streaming service so I can’t watch it anyways. Womp womp.
This show is going to be the first installment to James Gunn’s DCU. The show is premiering on Max on December 5, nearly a year after it was announced back on January 31, 2023. Superman will be the first film in the franchise, but however Creature Commandos is the first project to release for the DCU.
What to Catch This Month
Here’s each of the Marvel/DC projects coming out this month:
November 3 - The Penguin [E7] (streaming: Max)
November 10 - The Penguin [E8] (streaming: Max)
Thank You!
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this month's CQMB. Be sure to stay tuned for the next CQMB which will release on the first of December.
I wonder if Spider-Man Noir will feature in one of the MCU films?
I mean, I'm still not planning on watching Agatha, but if you ended up doing so then I'd read it.
Yes, Holland being the Christopher Nolan movie is pretty exciting. I’m super intrigued considering Nolan’s insane track record.
I honestly think Venom should stay separate. I feel like they had their chance with the No Way Home credit scene, and since they ditched that it seems pointless to me.
I’m guessing Spider-Man Noir would stay separate, but I don’t think it’s possible to see some appearance within the MCU.
Thanks for checking out my blog!
Spider-Man 4 could be so great, but Marvel has to do their own thing!
I started Agatha, never got around to finishing it, It was ok but it felt really unimportant to be honest.
Blade being cancelled is kind of expected, It seems like they want to continue to push back these kinds of projects so that they can fix what they already have.
The Ironheart show immediately peaked my interest when i heard about Mephisto. Before that I was kind of pissed that they were giving this mid character so much focus but now I think it has potential to be good.
