Apology for the Delay…
I apologize for the delay :) I have been incredibly busy since the year started, and I have finally found the time to post the CQMB. Thanks for your patience, and here’s all you’ve missed from December through February:
Avengers: Doomsday Teasers
As we knew before, Marvel announced they would be releasing weekly teasers in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash. One thing I did not expect was that they would release it publicly the same week. I figured these trailers would be so exclusive that I would have to go out of my way to watch the movie multiple times. Luckily though, they posted each of the four teasers on the official Marvel YouTube page. I ended up not even seeing Avatar: Fire and Ash... but at least nobody had to miss out on these insane trailers.
Trailer #1: Steve Rogers
Wowwwwww... I don't know why I was so convinced Chris Evans wouldn't come back. In this trailer, we see Steve Rogers enter his home, followed by a shot of him inside of his home holding a baby (presumably his child with Peggy Carter). This was an unexpected and exciting first trailer, but was also what I hoped to be the biggest reveal of the four trailers (it wasn’t).
Trailer #2: Thor
This trailer seemed a little more in line with what I was expecting for these trailers. It makes a call back to a movie from the Multiverse Saga (Thor: Love and Thunder), and shows the audience how the storyline with his daughter will continue, as well as foreshadow the threat Doctor Doom presents. This was a solid, enjoyable trailer.
Trailer #3: X-Men
Ok wow. This trailer truly felt like a shock to watch. We knew Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops would appear in the movie… but I’m on the fence on how I feel about this trailer. Objectively speaking, it’s an exciting trailer and it builds my excitement. But at the same time, a lot of excitement for a movie comes from the unknown. I don’t always like seeing things this soon when it could have been a big reveal left for the movie’s release. Given this trailer dropped a year before the movie, the excitement of this reveal will fade over time as time goes on. Although everyone expects Doomsday to be insane movie, this trailer made it feel like Marvel wanted the audience to know exactly what to expect. Granted, not really any plot points were revealed, so I guess it’s fine… but just the raw thrill of seeing these classic characters on the big screen will be diminished a little bit.
Trailer #4: Wakanda
This was another good standard trailer. It’s a good tease into the way Wakanda will tie into more recently installments, such as Fantastic Four, seeing that The Thing was in the trailer. This trailer is exciting, but after the X-Men trailer I wasn’t as blown away. There’s nothing wrong with the trailer, but if anything I feel like the X-Men trailer would have been a better ending note to the four-trailer series.
Overall, these trailers all had something to offer in terms of inspiring excitement for Marvel fans. I do feel like I’d disagree with some of the marketing strategies that took place, but nonetheless, this film looks great and I’ll be looking forward to that December release date all year. What do you think about these trailers?
Avengers: Doomsday will be in theaters on December 18.
Supergirl Trailer
As much as I hate to say it, this trailer doesn’t look that exciting. It comes across as a generic superhero movie. I don’t know that that necessarily means the movie will be another generic superhero movie, but I think they definitely could have done better with the trailer. I guess they have 3 more months to win me over but right now I’m unimpressed. What do you feel about this trailer? How exciting are you to see Supergirl? Supergirl will be in theaters on June 26.
Wonder Man Release
As you may know, Wonder Man dropped each of its eight episodes onto Disney+ on January 27. Unfortunately, since I been insanely busy recently, I haven’t gotten the chance to watch the show yet (I haven’t even watched Ironheart yet)… It has gotten good reviews so far, so I’m looking forward to the chance to see it myself. I was also entertained by the trailer, so I’m expecting it to be good. Have you watched the series yet? How do you think it compares to previous MCU shows?
New Cast Members for The Batman Part II
I’m not sure if I have already covered the fact that either one of these actors have been casted in the film, but both Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan have been casted for leading roles, along with the returning Robert Pattinson (as Batman), Barry Keoghan (as Joker), Colin Farrell (as Penguin), and Andy Serkis (as Alfred). It has also been apparently confirmed that Catwoman will not return in this sequel. I haven’t done any deep investigating to try to figure out who Johansson and Stan could possibly be playing, but I find it interesting to see these two MCU alums make an appearance in the DC world. What do you think about these castings? Who do you think they might be playing? The Batman Part II will be in theaters on October 1, 2027.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Trailer… Leaked
Black Panther 3 Release
We have recently gotten news that Black Panther 3 plans to begin filming within the next few years in hopes of releasing the film by 2028… that’s all I’ve got here.
New MCU Director???
Back in January, famous director and comedian Jordan Peele teased a possible collaboration with Marvel, specifically Marvel Studios. Peele has stated in the past that he has particular interest in telling stories with Black protagonists, so that brings something huge into consideration: could Jordan Peele be the one to finally bring Blade to life? The Blade film has gone through development hell trying to make its way to the big screen, with two directors joining and leaving the project, as well as several script rewrites. It eventually got shelved for a release after Avengers: Secret Wars (or at least it seems), so now Marvel is able to return to the drawing board with the comfort of time. And now that there is more time to evaluate their decisions, recruiting a willing Jordan Peele could absolutely do the trick. Peele has a great reputation with horror films, and while Blade is not necessarily directly under the horror genre, he could not doubt encapsulate the eerie vibe that goes with the Blade character. I think this hiring would be a phenomenal idea. What do you guys think?
Brainiac Casted in Man of Tomorrow
The villain of the upcoming DCU movie Man of Tomorrow (following up 2025’s Superman) has been cast. Who exactly? German actor Lars Eidinger has taken on the role of Brainiac, who will be fighting both Superman and Lex Luthor in the 2027 film. I don’t know much about this actor, but I have a lot of trust in James Gunn’s casting decisions, so I’m not worried at all. Man of Tomorrow will be in theaters on July 9, 2027.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Release
This release date has truly crept up on us. We knew to expect the second season of Daredevil: Born Again for early 2026, but Marvel has revealed to us that Daredevil: Born Again is going to drop on March 24. We have still not gotten a trailer yet which is interesting, but at least we know the show will continue not only this year, but this month. I haven’t watched the first season, but how exciting is this quick turnaround for those of you who watch the show? I still haven’t seen the original Netflix Defenders shows, so I still haven’t gotten into the hype that comes with this franchise. Be ready for the season to premiere on Disney+ on March 24.
Spider-Noir Trailer
I’m not gonna lie, this trailer really sold me. I’m not as much of a fanatic about the Spider-Man continuity as many other Marvel fans are, but something about this trailer really appealed to me. I love the stylistic choices and this trailer has convinced me to watch this show (far more than any other MCU show trailer has in a long time). I think I’m definitely going to have to check this one out. Spider-Noir will begin streaming on Prime Video on May 27.
Sony Spider-Man Universe is Coming Back…
We all thought the miserable Sony Spider-Man Universe had finally met its demise in December 2024. Well… it looks like it’s back. The Sony Spider-Man Universe was a series of 6 films that released from October 2018 to December 2024 that was often criticized for its poor quality. I, myself, agreed with this outlook on the franchise. The majority of those movies were hard to sit through, and were not only generic, but also just very bland. Even worse, each of the movies are about Spider-Man villains… but Spider-Man never makes an appearance. Marvel fans were generally happy that this universe had been put to an end, but according to recent reports, Sony plans to reboot the universe and bring it back to theaters within the next several years. This is bad news for me, just because I have serious doubts about Sony’s capabilities of making good Marvel movies (or at least about Spider-Man villains, especially if they’re not working alongside Marvel Studios. What do you feel about this announcement?
2025 in Review
In 2025, we experienced a shift in the content Marvel and DC has given us. In the last few years, both mega franchises have often fallen below expectations of their fanbase in delivering quality projects. But 2025 has come across as a promise for better projections in the future. Marvel’s Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps showed us both a very unique and impactful character study, as well as a time piece of a superhero family fighting for the world, respectively. Marvel also released Captain America: Brave New World, which seemed like the last crumbs of the bad MCU of times past. DC on the other hand, delivered us the start to the DCU with the finale of Creature Commandos releasing onto HBO Max in January, Peacemaker: Season 2, and especially Superman, which convinced long-time DC fans that the best is yet to come. Marvel Studios dropped plenty of new series to watch, many of which were animated, which all were decently received, but the movies definitely did enough themselves to help the MCU reputation recover. Now with the year over, we’ve yet to see the continuation of the young DCU, as well as the mega-event… the release of Avengers: Doomsday in December. Doomsday will be the tell-tale sign of the recovery of the MCU, and I have a lot of faith that it will succeed. What were your favorite Marvel/DC projects from 2025? Which projects do you most look forward to coming into 2026?
What to Watch This March?
Here’s each of the Marvel/DC projects releasing this month:
Daredevil: Born Again (Season 2: Episode 1) - March 24 (Disney+)
It is likely that Daredevil will have more episodes released by the end of the month, but the premiere date has only been confirmed for the first episode.
Thank You!
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read this month's CQMB. Be sure to stay tuned for the next CQMB which will release on the first of April.
Anyways, glad your back! :)
I haven't seen Wonder Man yet but look forward to (eventually).
I thought the Supergirl trailer just looked like a Guardians of the Galaxy rip-off (which is weird cause James Gunn didn't write or direct it). Jason Momoa as Lobo is a hilarious concept though lol.
I didn't know about Johansson and Stan being in The Batman Part II, that's crazy! I have no idea who they could be playing. It also'd be crazy if they were both in Avengers: Secret Wars (in 2027). Stan probably will be. And since Downey, Hemsworth, Ruffalo, Renner and Evans are returning for Doomsday/Secret Wars, Johansson may as well too.
Jordan Peele would be great for Blade! I thought that cancelled tbh.
I never even heard of Lars Eidinger but hopefully he's a good actor. He looks like he could play Brainiac at least.
My favorite of the Doomsday trailers was honestly the Thor trailer (even though of course it was cool to see Chris Evans back as Steve nothing much happened in that trailer, I haven't seen all of the X-Men movies so I'm not as invested in those characters are others (I do plan to watch all of those movies sometime this year), and the Wakanda/Thing trailer was just boring honestly, nothing wrong with it but I didn't give us much).
Sorry for the multiple long comments lol :)
Yet again, glad you're back!
I like your take on the Thor trailer. I would agree that it was the most grounded trailer. It is also relieving to see Marvel course correct the character they turned Thor into in Thor: Love and Thunder.
I'm excited to see Nic Cage in this role too. The more I've thought about it, this show has a lot of potential. Whether or not I trust Sony to follow through with the hype I cannot assert with confidence (especially after those Spider-Man villain movies), but at the same time, they're also responsible for the Spider-Verse movies which have also released in recent years.
Yeah Supergirl feels a little uninspired if that makes sense-- Like not many original creative ideas... which I'm sure is difficult in this day and age with so many comic book movies, but still. It is funny to see Momoa in the Lobo role though.
I really hope that if any OG Avengers reunion takes place in Doomsday/Secret Wars it isn't too forced
Thanks for checking out my blog, DukeOfArrakis (sorry for the late reply lol)
