Conference Championship Game Recaps
The first game on Sunday was the NFC Championship, between the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles. While this game started out kind of close, the Eagles went crazy in the second half. Three Commanders' fumbles were critical in helping the Eagles score, while the Eagles never turned the ball over. The Eagles cruised to a 55-23 victory over the Commanders, and are the 2024 NFC champions!
The AFC Championship between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs would follow, and this game was a lot closer. There were frequent lead changes, but ultimately the score would be 29-29 at the fourth quarter. The Chiefs scored a field goal, and stopped the Bills on their final drive, winning the game. There once again were some questionable calls made by the referees in this game, but nevertheless, the Chiefs are the 2024 AFC champions!
SUPER BOWL
The Super Bowl matchup is now set!
It will feature the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs and the NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles
The game will be on Sunday, February 9 @ 6:30 PM ET on FOX and streaming on Tubi
Some notes about the game:
The most obvious note is that the Chiefs and Eagles played each other in the Super Bowl two years ago
With the Chiefs winning 38-35
If the Chiefs win, it'll be the first time EVER that a team has won three Super Bowls in a row
Which, out of the threepeat attempts, this is the closest any team has gotten to achieving this incredible feat
Out of Patrick Mahomes' seven years as a starter, he has made the Super Bowl in five of them!
Meanwhile, the Eagles' last Super Bowl win was Super Bowl LII in 2018, defeating the Tom Brady-led Patriots 41-33
That Super Bowl win was also the Eagles' first in franchise history
Two years ago, the Super Bowl was dubbed 'the Andy Reid Bowl' as current Chiefs head coach Andy Reid previously coached the Eagles in the 2000s, so I guess this is the Andy Reid Bowl II?
Saquon Barkley, the Eagles runningback, is the only MVP candidate between these two Super Bowl teams
The Super Bowl this year will be held at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana
New Orleans has hosted more Super Bowls than any other city (this will be their 11th)
Most recently, New Orleans hosted Super Bowl XLVII in 2013
Predictions!
While I did pick the Eagles to beat the Commanders, I unfortunately picked the Bills to beat the Chiefs. In predicting this Super Bowl, I think it will be similar to other Chiefs games we've seen. I think the Chiefs defense is one of the most underrated in the NFL, and even though Saquon Barkley poses as a huge threat, I think the Chiefs' strategy will be to contain him. While the Eagles do have a good pass offense, their run offense is definitely their strength. On the other side, the Eagles defense has played very well throughout the playoffs, which can definitely affect the Chiefs. However, Patrick Mahomes is still the quarterback, and he has always proven to be clutch when needed. With that said, I think the game will be relatively low-scoring. But ultimately, Patrick Mahomes knows how to get it done, and I think the Chiefs will win the game.
Score prediction: Chiefs win 30-24
One more thing, I started doing blogs in January 2023, and so far every year that I've done them, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, so I don't know if that's a coincidence or not.
But what are your predictions for the game? Who will win Super Bowl LIX? Who are you rooting for? Let me know your predictions and thoughts towards the game!
Halftime Show+Commericials: Yes
the game no one asked for, and the game no one wanted. I hate both sides but cmon Eagles, we need you to stop the threepeat, please, please please please, you're our only hope.
