June: Sacred Heart of Jesus Month

+8

Welcome

It's June, and we all know what month it is. (not really, that is why I made this blog)

No, not that one.

It's Sacred Heart of Jesus Month!

P.S. I am not Catholic, but I agree a lot with them

What Is Sacred Heart of Jesus Month

Sacred Heart of Jesus is a holy month for Catholics, and it is meant to show how Jesus isn't just divine, but his love is felt by us, and expressed through a human heart that suffered and chose to sacrifice itself for us.

The Sacred Heart represents Jesus' love for us, his compassion and emotion, and how He is still merciful towards us. A heart isn't just an organ in Catholicism, it represents the center of a person. So, the Sacred Heart shows Jesus' deepest love to us.

This painting shows Jesus and his Sacred Heart

Why is June the Month of the Sacred Heart?

The Feast Day for the Sacred Heart is always in June, because it is always on a Friday, usually about nineteen days after Pentecost, placing it in June. June already has a lot of Christian feasts, such as Corpus Christi,  and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, so the Catholic Church places love and devotion towards Jesus in this period.

History of the Sacred Heart

The Sacred Heart is much older than any modern June tradition, as early Christians already talked about how Christ's love for us is centred in the heart. In the 1600s, St. John Eudes created a formal liturgy for it, and developed early prayers for it.  St. Margaret Mary Alacoque reported her visions of Jesus where his heart was burning with love, and he asked for special devotion focused on love. Later, these ideas spread through Europe, and in 1856, it became a universal feast in the Catholic Church.

What the Devotion Means

1. God's love is not absent, and it is seen in the human sacrifice of Jesus.

2. Emphasis of compassion and forgiveness

3. Making up indifference and sin with prayer and devotion

4. Christ's heart is present in the Eucharist, where Jesus is truly present.

Practices During June

Catholics often focus on:

Daily prayer

Devotion, such as First Friday and Holy Hour

Charity, forgiveness, and love

Symbolism

The Sacred Heart is filled with symbolism

The flames represent divine love that never stops

The crown of thorns represents human sin

The open wound represents His sacrifice on the cross

The cross represents salvation

The light rays represent His grace

Joining Christian events do not mean to make quizzes or blogs. It is about getting closer to our Heavenly Father and, if you haven’t already, make progress or get baptized and repent.
