JetPunk #1 Hits - Part II

Hey quiz takers! It's that time of year: year-end data! Time to continue the...

Number 1 hit quizzes of 2025!

Arrow Puzzle #1 - Sudden Death

a97c3df47f-450.webp
Takes: 15,445
CotW Takes: 9,435
Date: August 2
Maker: Stewart
Genre: Puzzle, Sudden Death

Description: A puzzle quiz... we need more on JetPunk. The concept is simple: click only the squares being pointed at and avoid the rest. Despite the simplicity, I always miss squares, even when moving row by row. Easy but fun.

Notes: This is Stewart's second #1 hit of the year.

It's so satisfying to get a chain of arrows and click a bunch in a row.

Population Battle - Sudden Death

6baf129d2a-450.webp
Takes: 23,471
CotW Takes: 12,221
Date: August 4
Maker: Quizmesser
Genre: Sudden Death (Multiple Choice)

Description: It's the year's second Sudden Death, Multiple Choice quiz! Every row has exactly one correct answer. Larger populations are on top, and things get harder as the population gets smaller. Who knows the population of Jamaica? I do... not. I took the quiz again to make this blog, it was my 1st perfect score!

Notes: This is Quakehammer's FIFTH time beating the CotW quiz!

What a great use of the Sudden Death format... Sudden Death multiple choice!

Countries of Europe by Flag and First Letter

e2a7ce56f1-450.webp
Takes: 21,808
CotW Takes: 12,221
Date: August 5
Maker: Elboy
Genre: Whammies

Description: Whammy! It's satisfying to just type a single letter and have the answer pop up. There are only so many ways to quiz people on flags... right? Right? Golly, maybe some of us will have to get the world's flags memorized. At least we get three lives! This is a fantastic use of the format, kudos!

Notes: This is Elboy's THIRD time getting the #1 quiz in 2025!

I still get Romania and Bulgaria mixed up... I need like 10 whammies to survive this quiz with any consistency.

Random Fast Typing - 5 Letter Words

f13968456c-450.webp
Takes: 14,569
CotW Takes: 11,550
Date: August 8
Maker: Stewart
Genre: Speedrun Typing

Description: Speed is the name of the game in this quiz! I love typing games, and this one is just 20 seconds of typing bliss. We need more typing games on JetPunk. Typing = fun. Not much else to say about this quiz: type 25 words in 20 seconds. That's just 75 words per minute.

Notes: This is Stewart's THIRD time getting the top spot this year!

Also, this quiz hasn't been updated since 2019, so a 6-year old quiz took #1 today!

Hey, 15 seconds! I believe that means I type about 100 words per minute. Checks out.

U.S. States that Start with M

f4aacba18b-450.webp
Takes: 12,844
CotW Takes: 12,683
Date: August 11
Maker: Jerry928
Genre: Speedrun

Description: More speedrunning! There’s something satisfying about cracking out a quiz in a minute. Rapid recall is harder than it sounds, and mentally jumping around the map is tuff. Great fun!

Notes: This is Jerry928’s THIRD time topping the leaderboard this year!

Kind of a spoiler to show all the answers... so here's a peak it this quiz's great score! 4.92 is pretty solid!

Megacities - World Map Sudden Death

a7fdf00f6b-450.webp
Takes: 27,307
CotW Takes: 14,372
Date: August 14
Maker: Stewart
Genre: Sudden Death

Description: What a fantastic quiz. Again, great use of the Sudden Death format. I have no idea how Stewart can produce such a clean looking map on a Sudden Death grid. Just look at the action shot! I hope there are many more tiled-map Sudden Death quizzes to come.

Notes: This is Stewart's FOURTH time atop the leaderboard this year!

Also, this quiz pulled in 27,307 takes... during summer. Many summer #1 quizzes don't even crack 15,000.

Ah, dangit Ethiopia. You have a population over 100 million, but no megacities? How????

Real People - Sudden Death #3

535457d76e-450.webp
Takes: 19,006
CotW Takes: 13,720
Date: August 22
Maker: PapaFurchetta
Genre: Sudden Death

Description: This entry tilts a bit more towards legendary and ancient people, making it slightly trickier. Some of us waited until the very end only to pick Helen of Troy, even though she kinda feels fictitious. Anyway, it's a solid topic for a sudden death quiz, and I wouldn't be surprised if a few more of these could hit the leaderboards in 2026!

Notes: This is PapaFurchetta's second #1 hit this year!

Also, this is the THIRD time a sequel has topped the charts this year (#2 in the series also took the top spot. #1 in the series, not quite.)

You will never convince me that Helen of Troy is fictional! She was hot to trot and caused a war and launched a thousand ships!

10 Biggest Countries by Area - Whammies

c705312890-450.webp
Takes: 16,785
CotW Takes: 15,522
Date: August 26
Maker: LuckyCat
Genre: Whammies

Description: Another LuckyCat entry! It's quite the year for this felicitous feline. Rather than seeing a bunch of countries in front of you (i.e., sudden death), you must recall countries with large areas and then consider whether there are larger countries!

Notes: This is LuckyCat's FOURTH #1 quiz this year!

AAAAAAH! Only one life left! Terrifying! How big is Sudan? How big is Congo? How big is Indonesia? I only gots one life left!

American Singers - Sudden Death

94332c7a8b-450.webp
Takes: 20,340
CotW Takes: 16,385
Date: August 27
Maker: jack541
Genre: Sudden Death

Description: The strongest Sudden Death quizzes use a simple binary format: yes or no. Either the singer is American or not. Difficulty comes from lesser-known artists and accents that don’t carry through in song. A solid Sudden Death quiz to close out summer break in the U.S.

Notes: This is jack541's second time atop the JetPunk daily leaderboard!

Dangit... I knew that Robert Plant was part of Led Zeppelin, too. Not sure why I clicked him, but that's the nature of the quiz!

Click the European Capitals on a Map

05e6b992e1-450.webp
Takes: 18,729
CotW Takes: 17,738
Date: September 10
Maker: Elboy
Genre: Click Map

Description: Ah, what a saucy quiz. I definitely get why this one topped the charts. It's because it's IMPOSSIBLE! I know the stats don't agree with that sentiment, but I could take this quiz a dozen times (and I might have) and never get all 45! It's a great way to learn the approximate locations of all these cities, though, and I found it quite... edifying. It's nice to see someone using the new map quiz format to its potential.

Notes: This is Elboy's FOURTH time topping 2025's JetPunk charts!

Argh. I still only have a high score of 41/45. I have missed Helsinki literally every time I've taken this quiz, and Reykjavik and Stockholm sit at 25%.

Country Shapes by First Letter - Speed Run

5018a22580-450.webp
Takes: 17,395
CotW Takes: 17,273
Date: September 22
Maker: Quackmiser
Genre: Speedrun, Whammies

Description: A speedrun quiz with whammies? This is definitely going to maximize takes. I honestly cannot get a full score on this one... I have struggled to get over 50% of these correct. It's a great idea, and almost reminds me of flashcards. I could probably learn the shapes of all the countries of the world by just taking this quiz over and over, like flash cards! Anyway, it's a fun quiz!

Notes: This is Quickmozza's SIXTH time scoring a #1 quiz this year!

I have officially gotten over 50% on this quiz! Hurray! Seriously, how do people do this? All these country blobs look the same to me.

Click the Countries on a Borderless World Map #1

454e68c511-450.webp
Takes: 26,110
CotW Takes: 17,363
Date: September 23
Maker: Elboy
Genre: Click Map

Description: September was a little slow (only two quizzes before this hit #1!), but this is a blockbuster. It's the entire world map without borders! She's a beautiful quiz, and it was a great idea to keep the number of target countries low to prevent lag. It's quite easy to play and seasoned JetPunk players won't have too much issue with this one. Get a country name and go click on that country. Of course... this is just the introduction. There are, of course, sequels!

Notes: This is Elboy's FIFTH time scoring a #1 quiz in 2025!

It's pretty satisfying clicking on countries around the world. It's a little tricky, too, especially on smaller countries.

Bones - Sudden Death

ae209047eb-450.webp
Takes: 17,048
CotW Takes: 16,327
Date: September 26
Maker: overtired
Genre: Sudden Death

Description: I'm tempted to call this a sequel, but it doesn't quite count. In spirit, it's very similar to overtired's body parts sudden death quiz from earlier in the year. This one has some great distractor answers, and I was VERY tempted to click on a river in Europe even though I knew it was a river in Europe. Apparently 23% of quiz takers agree that this river in question sounds like a bone. Anyway, it's another great quiz with a straightforward concept.

Notes: This is overtired's SEVENTH #1 hit of 2025!

Sudden Death quizzes with joke answers are my favourites. Nutella. That's great.

Every American Flag - Sudden Death

cb18e074b8-450.webp
Takes: 12,639
CotW Takes: 10,259
Date: September 27
Maker: overtired
Genre: Sudden Death

Description: Wow, two #1 hits two days in a row. Aside from those two quizzes that stayed #1 two days in a row, this is the first time a user has been #1 two days in a row (and the first time with two different quizzes). Another visual flag quiz means striking visuals.

Notes: This is overtired's EIGHTH #1 hit of 2025, and his second in two days!

I did pretty well in this little section of the quiz. Look, no mistakes in this corner. Hurray!

Italian Cities - Sudden Death

2c9a6c49a4-450.webp
Takes: 19,600
CotW Takes: 19,386
Date: September 29
Maker: XYU
Genre: Sudden Death

Description: How many Italian cities do you know? This quiz asks players to select 24 while avoiding cities from Ukraine, Libya, Russia, the Philippines, Brazil, and the United States. It’s trickier than it sounds. Sausalito is the most common landmine at 34%, and it got me. This feels like the start of a popular series.

Ah, I should have known that Sausalito wasn't named after an Italian city. And now I hear the song "Sausalito Summer Nights" in my head. Noooo.

Muslim Majority Cities - Sudden Death

44f3fcb70f-450.webp
Takes: 12,078
CotW Takes: 11,865
Date: October 5
Maker: JetPunker180
Genre: Sudden Death

Description: This could have been a difficult quiz, but JetPunker180 went easy. Most cities are located in the core of the Muslim world. My early attempts often fail due to immediately selecting Addis Ababa, a choice that eliminates roughly one-third of users.

Ah, lost the coinflip. I had a feeling Mogadishu was going to be the answer, but still clicked an obviously wrong answer in hindsight.

Two Color Flags - Sudden Death

bdeb269cee-450.webp
Takes: 23,814
CotW Takes: 18,199
Date: October 6
Maker: jack541
Genre: Sudden Death

Description: Hey, jack's back! And he's got 26 two-color flags with him. This seems like it's the year of flags... there's a whole schwack of flag quizzes leading the charge this year! This is a mental exercise, really, of mentally picturing the provided flags and determining if they're just bicolored. It's a straightforward and clean idea, the exact types of quizzes that top the charts.

Notes: This is jack541's THIRD time atop the leaderboard this year!

Well, I got 19/26 before the blind guessing started. That actually is a lot of improvement for me!

Pin Africa on a Borderless Map

82aa374ff8-450.webp
Takes: 43,563
CotW Takes: 23,482
Date: October 16
Maker: Dimby
Genre: Advanced SVG, Whammies

Description: Oh lord, he’s back. Same idea as before: drag the pin onto the correct continent. Small countries like Eswatini, the Guineas, and The Gambia are near-instant deaths early on, though the quiz allows three lives. There are still some glitches where placing the pin in the wrong shaded water doesn’t always count as a death.

Notes: This is Dimby's SIXTH time leading all quizzes this year!

This is the FOURTH time a sequel quiz has topped the charts, and this is the third of this series to top the charts.

Oh dear, the dreaded early Eswatini. Of course, only cowards use the arrows to skip countries...

British Cities - Sudden Death

ce9d28ede8-450.webp
Takes: 27,764
CotW Takes: 20,990
Date: October 17
Maker: DoktorApplejuce
Genre: Sudden Death

Description: Oh no, I have a serious illness related to a lack of knowledge about English, Welsh, Scottish, and Northern Irish cities! Call me a medical professional, get me a doktor! DoktorApplejuce prescribes a sudden death quiz of British cities! Again, clean, straightforward ideas tend to do well. It helps that it's quite hard for non-Brits, and I still have never aced it.

Notes: This is DoktorApplejuce's only featured quiz so far, but they have a whole series like this one! I linked to the series' page below.

Also, what a name, right? DoktorApplejuce!

Really??? I guess shire means it's like a county or district or something. Huh. Well I like their pudding regardless.

Star Wars Picture Chain - Sudden Death

c8fdc1d6fc-450.webp
Takes: 26,065
CotW Takes: 22,348
Date: October 21
Maker: overtired
Genre: Sudden Death, Puzzle, Advanced CSS

Description: Holy, what do you even call this type of quiz? I guess you could call it sudden death, but it's got some seriously advanced CSS styles coding in there. And the end screen... I'm honestly not really sure how you put an ending screen on a sudden death quiz. It's utterly amazing. Add onto the technical aspects a puzzle! It's the second time we've seen what I'd call an actual puzzle top the charts this year, and it's a very welcome addition to JetPunk's regular programming.

Notes: This is overtired's NINTH time topping the charts.

Wow, what an end screen! I'm glad that I died on this run through. I mean, who knows who kissed whom in the sequel trilogy anyway? You can unlock the victory screen on your own. :)

Words that are European Cities

663254fc59-450.webp
Takes: 18,218
CotW Takes: 18,075
Date: October 31
Maker: Quibblebuster
Genre: (Not so) Sudden Death

Description: A fun quiz concept. Some sound like European cities, while others clearly are not. Near the end, blind guesses become necessary. At least there are three lives!

Notes: This is QuasarRasta's SEVENTH time beating the Countries of the World quiz.

How nice! Three lives to work with, so it's not that sudden of death. Not sure why I picked Gibbon to demonstrate this, but hey... it's Gibbon!

Click the Countries on a Borderless World Map #2

32fb9ed928-450.webp
Takes: 26,858
CotW Takes: 21,159
Date: November 4
Maker: Elboy
Genre: Click Map

Description: Another iteration of the borderless world map! Borderless maps are doing quite well this year! This one isn't too hard, but there are a couple small islands that are quite challenging... I'm looking at you Caribbean islands! Clicking on chonky landmasses between the tougher, smaller countries is pretty satisfying, though. Great stuff! Will we see #3 top the chart? I guess we'll see!

Notes: This is Elboy's SIXTH time leading the charts this year.

This is the fifth time a sequel topped the charts, as CtCoaBWM #1 also hit #1.

Ah, man, missing Peru is embarrassing. Not sure why I didn't click a lot further south, but I managed to clip the southernmost part of Ecuador.

Letters that Don't Start a U.S. State

47d9f1f90f-450.webp
Takes: 26,570
CotW Takes: 22,718
Date: December 4
Maker: Quashmitre
Genre: Whammies

Description: What the heck? An entire month since a quiz beat the Countries of the World Quiz? Last year, of course, Sudden Death quizzes stormed out in November and constantly topped the charts. This year, November was the slowest month of the year for big hits. Anyway, we finally have a new quiz maker with the most taken quiz! This is short and sweet, with whammies! Just give the correct 7 letters and you win!

Notes: This is Quaffmooser's EIGHTH time beating the Countries of the World quiz.

Can you get ALL SEVEN LETTERS? One letter will surprise you! Only people with 150 IQ can ace this quiz!

Precision Fast Click - Sudden Death

3b28f577fb-450.webp
Takes: 24,648
CotW Takes: 21,060
Date: December 5
Maker: Elboy
Genre: Sudden Death, Game

Description: After a full month with no toppers, two appeared back to back. This quiz resembles an earlier game-style quiz by... Elboy! Variety is welcome, and I appreciate the gamification. Overall, it was fun (but easier on mobile than desktop). More quizzes like this would be welcome!

Notes: This is Elboy's SEVENTH time topping the charts in 2025!

Argh, my Counter Strike days are far behind me... my twitch aiming is just not up to snuff!

White Flags - Sudden Death

927c187264-450.webp
Takes: 16,769
CotW Takes: 14,931
Date: December 7
Maker: Adam 25
Genre: Sudden Death

Description: I cannot keep finding new things to say about sudden death flag quizzes! I don't even know my flags. :(

Anyway, it's a solid idea. For everyone who doesn't have some mild case of aphantasia, it's probably pretty easy to imagine all these flags and picture whether they have white or not. Great choices, many seem pretty tricky to me, but then I can't even get 3 stars on this quiz.

Notes: This is Adam25's first quiz to be featured. Be sure to check out his other quizzes!

Oh dear lord, I don't know. I don't know my flags. All the quizzes are flag quizzes. I can't do this. I'm freaking out. I SURRENDER!!! The flags win!

Eliminate European Countries - Sudden Death

d738802a66-450.webp
Takes: 30,275
CotW Takes: 20,237
Date: December 19
Maker: Dimby
Genre: Advanced SVG, Sudden Death-ish

Description: This definitely has a different aesthetic to most other things on JetPunk... and not necessarily for the better. The colour can be a bit hard on the eyes, and you just reveal more of it as you eliminate more cities. Anyway, it's a basic European geography quiz that has the sudden death feature, so it seems pretty obvious that it'd do well (quizmaxxing?). It gets a little tricky towards the end, as more Eastern European countries enter the fold. Forty is a lot of cities, too.

Notes: This is Dimby's I dunno, seventh?, time topping the charts.

It's a big ol' block of cities... kinda ugly, honestly. Why would someone use a powder blue colour?

Click the Countries on a Borderless World Map #3

32fb9ed928-450.webp
Takes: 12,997
CotW Takes: 12,647
Date: December 27
Maker: Elboy
Genre: Click Map

Description: Merry Christmas! Your gift is a third world click map quiz! This one featured multiple Caribbean islands, so that definitely made it a touch harder. I also noticed that the zoom-in does NOT include Trinidad, which threw me off a bit the first time I took this. Regardless, it's a great idea and I definitely see why Elboy scored 3 #1 hits with it!

Notes: This is Elboy's EIGHTH time topping the charts.

This is the sixth time a sequel topped the charts this year, and the THIRD in this series to do so!

This is the FINAL quiz to top the charts in 2025! Happy New Year!

Dang, I make the pin borderless Africa just to miss one of the top ten biggest African nations.

Conclusion

There were a total of 67 (yes, I know) quizzes that hit the number one spot this year! That is an astounding increase over last year. Much of the increase can be attributed to Sudden Death Quizzes. Still, this year saw more non-Sudden Death quizzes take the top spot too. So what are the numbers?

Top Quiz Types

There were 41 Sudden Death or functionally Sudden Death quizzes to top the charts in 2025! This is not super surprising, since failing the quiz right away will potentially get the same user to take the quiz three or four times instead of just once.

Sudden Death - 41

Text (traditional) - 10

Whammies - 9

Click Map - 5

Multiple Choice - 1

Top Genres

What were the quizzes about? Here is an idea:

Final Note

Sudden Death quizzes may seem to dominate JetPunk, but longer quizzes are still performing well. They generate lots of takes (#takesmaxxing), yet text quizzes by far remain the site’s biggest drivers overall. There’s also been a slight decline in complex SVGs, even as CSS styling continues to improve.

The biggest day saw an absurd 80,000 takes, and the Countries of the World Quiz nearly doubled its best day from last year. In total, 67 quizzes topped the leaderboard—more than twice last year’s number. And it wasn’t just Sudden Death: twenty non-Sudden Death quizzes beat Countries last year, compared to 26 this year. All signs point to continued growth. Here’s to an equally successful 2026.

Of course I expected to find many SD quizzes in this top, but not to this extent! This quiz format deeply changed JetPunk and definitely shakes up the rankings.

Yes, Sudden Death quizzes certainly get a lot of takes, although we can assume many of these takes are repeat attempts after dying. I figure it kind of inflates the numbers. 🤔
