What makes a Good JetPunker?

+8

Prologue

Hello, this is Gademotsili99 speaking!

This question has stuck in my head for a long time. What is it that makes a JetPunker being considered good?

In this blog I will go over all the possible factors that contribute to a JetPunker's popularity.

Quiz-Making Abilities

I think a very important factor in making a great JetPunker is the prolific quiz-making abilities they might possess, both in creativity and execution, with some even revolutionising the site with ground-breaking ideas!

Of course, with this last sentence some people come to mind who I won't list for the sake of objectivity.

Anyway, with good ideas come many takes, but to be fair, I personally don't think that evaluating people based on statistics on their quizzes is really fair and relevant in this case!

Blog-Making Abilities

Just like great Quizmakers, there are great bloggers! A great blogger is also a debatable term, but I will just say that a great blogger is one with valuable ideas that may have required research and time and deserve success.

I am not sure about how much consistency determines a blogger's quality, so I will leave it out.

Again, a great blogger can get support and recognition by the community in terms of likes and comments, but that's about it.

Respect in the Community

I believe the most important aspect that every good JetPunker must have, regardless of being a quizmaker, quiztaker or blogger or even... chartmaker is to be kind and respectful to the other users! There are many examples of good behaviour and etiquette that JetPunkers have. I think the most common one must be when you are getting told that a quiz has been already done.

What do you do here?

A. Pretend you never heard it

B. Delete it immediately

If you choose A... Well not the best thing you can do

But if you choose B, you will at least make up for the mistake of not even looking at the search bar for a second to look for similar quizzes.

Another situation. When you spot a mistake in a quiz, what do you do?

A. Make bad criticism

B. Comment politely about how something needs fixing

C. Do nothing

A is obviously ironic, and C is also not good enough, as helping is better than doing nothing, in most cases.

Conclusion

In my opinion, a great and respectable JetPunker is one who respects his fellow JetPunkers and is generally helpful in the wider community, helping improve other quizmakers, along with themselves

Now, I most likely have also made some mistakes and I don't pretend otherwise during making this blog.

Anyway, what is your opinion on the matter?

I completely agree about respect, There are users here from all walks of life. OK most are anonymous, but there are the occasional clues. Some are young, some like myself are older, I have no doubt whatsoever that there are users from every skin colour and every sexual orientation. It matters not a jot to me as long as there is mutual respect. This mantra is not just on JetPunk, but in my everyday life.

The quizzes and blogs can be good, bad, indifferent or fantastic as long as comments are respectful. We all had to learn somewhere, my early quizzes and blogs aren't the best, but to be honest, I can count the bad comments on one hand.

I hope that I am seen as respectful and helpful where I can.

Yeah, exactly, JP can resemble real life in many aspects. Different people with different experiences and beliefs.

And because we're behind a fake name profile in a site doesn't mean we are barbarians, thankfully!

And hate is not so common, since the only criticism is constructive

And personally, I think you have been quite helpful for the community, and have an important footprint with your blog series!

Thanks for the compliments, although I wasn't looking for them. I try to help if I can in everything, at work, in the home, even in the supermarket, as well as online.

My personal thought is that if you treat people with respect, you will get that respect back. Doesn't always work obviously, there are some genuinely bad people out there. Thankfully I think they are still in the minority!

Oh and I need to get back to the blogs soon, I keep procrastinating and watching US crime series on TV instead!

Helping whenever you can is what everyone must do, but as you said there are bad people

In JP's case, I feel that respect is almost always, in some way or another, paid back, which is great!

I'm not sure why but there's little hate or anything of the like on this site, not sure all of it's been deleted but the community is very respectful to one another (also great sense of humor, there's been countless times where I've gotten weird looks from laughing). But the fact that I haven't seen the usual cussing out and that kind of useless thing, ever, on this site goes to show how cool it really is 👍.

I agree with you too, Gade. JetPunkers with respect are the best of them all. And Kilo is right, JetPunk seems to be one of the calmest, friendliest, places on the web.

This might be because anything unsavoury gets vanished by the moderators, or it might just be our site culture. Or a mix of both. Either way, it's a good thing and we should all make sure to continue behaving civilly in a cyberworld where hatred and bullying are the norm

I think part of it is the way the site's set up. The lack of notifications for replies to your comments makes it nearly impossible for rage wars to start unless the haters are *extremely* dedicated.
