Introduction
I’m GeoguessrGirl and I have a passion for geography and JetPunk. I’ve been waiting for the day I could make a blog, and that day has come! Welcome to my first blog, and cheers to more in the future!
How I Found JetPunk
I was looking for a geography quiz website with my friend at school, on my school iPad. I’d watched YouTubers use Sporcle, so that’s what I looked for first. It was sadly blocked, so I scrolled down until I found JetPunk.
Getting More Into JetPunk
I started playing geography quizzes, Geoguessr quizzes, and soon, other quizzes that were related to topics I liked. My friend and I would play at school a lot when we had free time. That was last September. Just over a month later, on October 23, I decided to make an account. It was under my school email, and is now my alt account,
That afternoon, I made this account, my main one, on my home iPad, which I’m on right now. I made these accounts mainly to keep track of my scores and comment on quizzes. That’s what I did for about 2 months. On December 14, I decided to try my hand at making quizzes. I made “Christmas Click”, a sudden death quiz where you could only click on the word “Red”, and not “Green”. I added a few fun things in there that weren’t red or green, because at the time, I loved looking at the stats. I barely knew anything about making JetPunk quizzes, so it came out terrible, probably like everyone’s first quiz. My friend and I would hover over it at school, and I would spam take the quiz until it had 17 takes. My friend did the same. We waited and waited until it got 18, and were so excited that it actually got one take. After that, I didn’t make any more quizzes, until the second half of my winter break. I was at my lake house, and the weather wasn’t too good, so I got to play in my iPad a lot. I went back to JetPunk, and started making more quizzes. Since then, I’ve gotten better and better. I also discovered charts and blogs (I remember thinking that April 23 was so far away), the message board, Minigames, update log, all that stuff. When word searches were announced, I made “Geoguessr”, the day after it was released. I’ve been continuing making word searches after that. I’ve reached level 43, and my top streak is 85, broken by me playing a quiz I thought was featured, but actually wasn’t…
What I Do Now On JetPunk
I make mostly geography/Geoguessr quizzes and word searches, but I also make ones about other things I like. I’ve joined the QAG (Quiz Advertisement Group). I make charts tracking my progress. Shoutout to my friend’s account,
I do JetPunk for about an hour every day, continuing series and exploring the site even more. Over spring break, around April 3, I decided to start making custom SVGs. I’m no coder, and there’s no way I’m getting Inkscape as an app (or paying for JetPunk premium), so I found SVGator and made an account. It took me four hours to figure out the basics of the basics, I’m still really bad, but I made “Peninsulas of Michigan- Map Quiz” and am proud of it (yeah, I know it’s terrible). That’s what I’m up to at the moment on JetPunk.
Conclusion
Thank you everyone who’s played one of my quizzes/word searches for the support. Thanks for reading this blog, I don’t know if I’ll have enough time to regularly make them in the future, but I’ll try. If you have any tips for me, put them in the comments, thanks:)
You had a lucky escape with Orcspel being blocked!
One thing I'll mention: Inkscape is free! And it's well worth learning to use it, even just the basic skills. That's the one thing I wish I'd learned sooner on my own quizmaking journey. I do agree with you that SVG coding is hard, that one is out of my skillset.
All the best on your JetPunk journey!
