Some time ago I released a blog where I challenged users to create tile select quizzes. In it, I promised that I would release a follow-up blog talking about some of the quizzes. Please enjoy this selection of my favourite submissions!
Quiz 1
Letters Not Found by cuotak
Starting things off we have Letters Not Found by cuotak! This is a pretty fun quiz. It's also surprisingly challenging. We have to determine which letters of the alphabet are not contained within various groups. It starts off pretty simple asking you about things you most likely already know the names of, such as the numbers 1-10 or the planets of the solar system, but the questions quickly ramp up in difficulty. You have to make educated guesses for alot of them. Normally I don't enjoy guessing in quizzes, but I don't mind it here since it's pretty easy to guess what letters are and aren't in a group of words. It's a bit of shame that there's a universal limit of 25 answers for tile select quizzes, just one shy of the 26 letters of the alphabet, so X and Z have to double up on a tile (though personally I would've made X and Q share a tile, like on a telephone, or just get rid of X entirely). As someone who's always been a huge fan of The Alphabet™, I really loved playing this quiz. Nicely done!
Quiz 2
What is more than... by Amphi64
What's heavier? A kilogram of steel, or a kilogram of feathers? Steel, obviously, because steel is heavier than feathers. But are they heavier than a gram? That one's not quite so obvious.
In What is more than... by Amphi64, you are given a thing, and you have to click all of the items that are "more than" that thing. For example, naming all the things that are more tall than the Statue of Liberty, or all the things that are more loud than 100 decibels. It seems easy at first, but there are alot of answers where you really have to think about it. I'll be the first to admit I don't really know how many decibels the sound a phone notification makes off hand, but considering the loudness of the other options I can make an educated guess. Normally I don't enjoy guessing in quizzes, but I don't mind it here since the options are all so varied and it really gets your mind going, trying to compare these things that are normally never compared. My favourite questions on this quiz are the ones about height, weight, and loudness. I think some other interesting properties to make questions for would be temperature, spiciness, brightness... there's alot of potential with this idea. Would love to see more! Nice work, Amphi64.
Quiz 3
Which Part Doesn't Belong? by KiloNova
In Which Part Doesn't Belong? by KiloNova, you are given a map of a country split into 9 tiles on a 3x3 grid. The catch is, two of tiles are depicting a different country than the rest. Your goal is to find and select all the imposter tiles. The tricky part here is that the fake tiles are placed in a way that they look like they could plausibly fit in with the rest of tiles. It'll take logic and knowledge to deduce which are the fakes.
A note to anyone taking the quiz: absolutely do NOT click any of the blank tiles. The way the instructions are worded makes it sound like you should click them, but do NOT click them under any circumstance. I lost so many points the first time I took the quiz...
Regardless, this quiz is pretty fun. Even for me, a guy who doesn't really know much about the shapes of countries. I was able to look at all the other shapes and see which ones lined up each other and which ones didn't. I got a pretty decent score. Technically not guessing! Which means that I usually enjoy this quiz. I think. Nice job!
As per tradition, I will be listing each of the quizzes submitted for the challenge. You don't have to play through the en-tile selection, but if you see any quizzes that interest you at all it would be awesome if you checked them out. And new to this Quiz Creation Challenge: playlist! Take on each quiz back to back in chronological order and see your scores at the end. Can you get 100% on all quizzes?
That's all for this QCC! There were alot of really good ones this time, and it was difficult to choose my favourites. I was a little nervous about this theme since this was the first time I forced people into making a specific type of quiz. I wasn't sure if people would really be interested in participating, or if they would be stuck for ideas. Thankfully, it seems that a sizable number of people were able to come up with an idea. More people than most QCC's, actually. I'm sure part of that could be attributed to the message board, since there's still alot of people using that (or, at least, there were when I advertised the QCC). That also means that this is probably alot of people's first QCC. In which case, thanks for participating! I hope you had fun. Also, sorry releasing the results took so long. That's something you may have to get used to. If I'm being entilely honest it was mostly due to the Blog Awards taking up so much of my JetPunking time, as well as school and work and my YouTube addiction. But hopefully it was worth the wait ;)
That's all from me for now. See you in the next blog!
