- What is this All About? -
I recently sent out a survey to the JetPunk Message Board asking users what they think the best quiz type is. Answers were based on three categories (seen to the right), and a short explanation was requested for each answer.
The categories/questions were:
- Best quiz type to make/create
- Best quiz type to take/play
- Best quiz type which you haven't already chosen
I wanted this to be a short survey, and it was. I got 15 responses, which I think is enough to provide accurate analysis and data. So without further ado, here is what JetPunk thinks the best quiz format is!
- First Question! -
Best quiz type to make/create?
A solid majority of users said that their favorite quiz type to make/create was the Text quiz format. The reasons were all fairly similar, with the most common responses being that these types of quizzes are simple and easy to make, as well as being fun. The next most selected option was Click, being that it was simple, but also quick to make, whereas Text can take longer to create. Sudden Death also made a small appearance of course, with Click Map and Multiple Choice also getting one vote each. Picture and Tile Select sadly did not get any votes.

- Second Question! -
Best quiz type to take/play?
The voting was a bit more evenly spread for this question, but the results still show that users prefer to take/play the Text quiz format over all the other options. Reasons included that users enjoy typing, and that it is the original quiz type. Some mentioned that SVGs are the most compatible with Text quizzes, which I think helped to boost it's stats yet again. Click and Sudden Death are still the second and third most selected options to take/play respectively, as users said that these quiz types are quick and easy to take, and are better suited for mobile. Picture also managed to make an appearance, replacing Multiple Choice. Tile Select still has yet to receive any votes at all. It is truly the forgotten quiz type.
Data displaying the answers for the second question
Overall, JetPunk thinks that the best quiz type to take/play is a Text quiz.
- Third Question! -
Best quiz type that you didn't already choose?
This question was mainly just to get a sense of which quiz type users thought should be mentioned without any specific parameters set. Here, the Picture quiz format showed its glory, with Sudden Death pulling in the same number of votes as well. No big surprise there. Reasons for each are that users enjoy the visual part of the quiz type (being pictures), and that the new quiz type Sudden Death is a great implementation for the site, serving as a "break" from the others, even with the anxiousness of it. All the other quiz types got 1 vote each, so I suppose that they are all equally considered, even Tile Select! It's great that someone had the heart to vote for this sad little quiz type.
Data displaying the answers for the third question
Overall, JetPunk thinks that the worst quiz type in general is a Tile Select quiz.
- What is the Best Quiz Type? -
Well, looks like we have our answer. The best quiz type on JetPunk is....
Text!
Pulling away with easily the most votes is of course the Text quiz format. It is the original quiz type, and has been on the site forever and a day. The ability to easily use SVGs with this quiz type makes it that much better, but in all, typing your answers is simply the preferred choice of quizzing on JetPunk!
- Bonus Question! -
Do you enjoy making SVGs?
A little extra just to top it all off. SVGs are an essential part of JetPunk, as some of the best quizzes made are with the use of an SVG. So, I thought it fair to ask JetPunk if they like making them. Here are the results. The greater majority have no clue how to make one. This checks out. Only a few enjoy making them, while even less don't like making them even if they know how to. A small number of users don't even know what an SVG is. I feel like many more users could learn how to work with SVGs, but either don't have the time, are too lazy to try and use Inkscape, or are just fine with making other quizzes that don't need an SVG. The best users on the site have made fabulous SVGs.

Thanks for reading this blog. If you participated in my survey, I thank you greatly. This blog would not have been possible without your input. Do you agree with the results? I do, and I think that Tile Select is depressingly underrated. On the flip side, Sudden Death has already left its mark, being the second most popular quiz type on the site in general after Text. Click came through in third place, which I respect. A good Click quiz is one of my favorites.
I also need to mention that, obviously, I did not get everyone's opinion on JetPunk. However, the results will likely transfer over to the site as a whole, and I think the greater part of the site will agree. It isn't perfect, but it's a good representation of what users think about our beloved quizzing formats.
Thanks again to everyone, and see you text time!
Nice data overall!
And I reckon if you made a poll for this on the Discord server you'd get way more responses
