Games I Like to Play

+2

Below are some of the games that I like to play when I need a break from school. I try to give a basic rundown, but some games have a lot to them. If you don't feel like reading about each game that's fine; I've created a very brief list at the end of each section detailing the main points. Quick links are also turned on for your convenience. Enjoy!

Crash of Cars

Crash of Cars is a really fun and underrated game that I've been playing for about 5 years now. It was released on March 22, 2017 by the company NotDoppler, and has 10+ million downloads. It's a multiplayer game and has picked up popularity over the years. Since its release, the game has been updated every few months, adding many more aspects to the game.

The Game itself is really simple to understand in my opinion, but has many complex features. It's a skill/strategy/action game, so using tactics will improve your gameplay. You play as a car (in a bird's-eye view), and your goal is to drive around a map and collect crowns. Many new maps have been added since the release, and I think that these different maps are one of the best parts of the game, as it gives the user different playing experiences. Crowns are also an essential part of the game. They can be obtained by riding over them; single crowns drop around the map occasionally, but a better way to get them is to destroy enemy cars which have already collected crowns. To deal damage to a car, you can attack it with a power-up, or crash into it to deal some minor damage. There are around 15 different power-ups in the game that spawn around a map in mystery boxes, so it's randomized. Once you destroy an enemy car, their crowns are dropped and any other car can collect them. Once you get destroyed, your crowns are counted (on a weird scale, since the first 20 or so crowns are halved for some reason) and then converted into coins (so it's mainly a 1:1 coin:crown ratio). You can use these coins for a multitude of things, as stated below.

Buying new cars is the best way to spend your coins. Cars are unlocked through a prize machine-type award system, where 100 coins must be used to buy a random car. There are 200+ cars in the game (more are added every update), so getting them all is a big task. Cars are ranked on a system of rarity; the rarer the car, the harder it is to pull from the prize machine. The rarity system is: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Each car has a level, and you have to re-pull the car from the prize machine to level it up (if this doesn't sound tedious to you, it is. It truly is. Thankfully, an update was added that made this process quicker using gems, another currency). Common cars can be maxed out at level 9, rares at level 7, epics at level 5, and legendaries at level 3. Each car has a specific amount of health ranging from 4 - 6 bars depending on the car's size, and armor is added to the car every time it is leveled up. So, the more money you spend on your cars, the better they become.

Epic and legendary cars each have unique special abilities. These cars are the best in the game, hence why their rarity is the highest. Experienced players/veterans to the game (like me) only ever use these types of cars, since they are just better. Newer players who haven't played the game much are usually stuck with common or rare cars with no special ability. Progressing through the game is very tedious and time consuming, but so addicting and rewarding for the soul.

Fused cars are a subcategory of special cars. To obtain these cars, you must fuse four specific cars together. These cars are similar in strength to epics and legendaries, but can be much better (since their power is fused between multiple other cars). Hidden cars are also a feature, and add some fun to the game. Hidden cars are exactly what they seem; you must do certain things around a map to unlock these cars. Some maps have hidden cars while others don't.

Upon maxing out a car, gems are awarded for this accomplishment. Maxing out different rarities of cars gives you different amounts of gems. Commons are 1, rares are 2, epics are 5, and legendaries are 10. This is the best way to get gems besides watching videos or buying them with real money. Gems can then be used to manually level up your cars (which is way too expensive) or buy new skins for your cars (coins can also be used for this).

Not only can you level up your cars, but by doing this, you also level up your account. Once you unlock cars, xp is added to your account. Each new level awards you something different, and 5 gems are a part of this. Usually it's an upgraded power-up, but can be other items like unique cars or skins. The max level you can reach is 100, which I've been for maybe a year.

Overall, these are the biggest features of the game. Of course, there's still a lot more to it than this. If you found this very brief rundown interesting, download the game and try it for yourself! (This isn't a paid add, I just really love the game).

Main Topics:

200+ unique vehicles to get and play with - commons, rares, epics, legendaries, fused, hidden.

20+ maps to drive around in and different gamemodes to try out, e.g. Capture The Flag.

Collect crowns to get coins and buy more cars and skins (tedious but worth it).

Level up to collect better equipment and emeralds for purchasing higher-value loot.

Get addicted like me and have fun.

Copter Royale

Copter Royale is also underrated, but I have a feeling most people might be more familiar with this game than Crash of Cars. Developed in late 2019, the program was uploaded to Cool Math Games who are the most popular holders of the game. Cool Math Games notes that Copter Royale was created by a developer named Exodragon, and has gained massive popularity on the site since it was uploaded. I love to play this game often, and (in my opinion) I'm a really strong player.

The Game is much more simple than Crash of Cars, but still complex in its own way. This game is mostly skill based, but like Crash of Cars, needs some strategy as well. Also being a multiplayer game, people can play together if they want. I only know that the game exists on computers, so the controls are wasd to move, arrow keys or mouse to change direction, left click to shoot, and right click or space to build. You play as a (heli)copter in bird's eye view, and fly around a map trying to be the last copter flying. This may sound easy, but it couldn't be that easy. Once you spawn into the map, you're surrounded by different upgrade tokens scattered across the map. If you fly over these upgrade tokens, your copter gets buffed. These upgrade tokens include a speed boost, shooting speed boost, reload boost (increase in number of shots per second), and barrier strength boost. They range on a scale 1 to 5, 5 being the best boost and 1 being the least effective boost. These boosts are color-coded based on effectiveness, so you can decide whether or not the specific boost you fly by in game is worth being picked up.

Along with these upgrade tokens are power-ups for your copter. These power-ups are a sort of sub-category from the upgrade tokens, as these too can be found around the map. Power-ups include doubles (+1 bullet fired at the same time), triples (+1 more bullet fired), drone (little buddy by your side which shoots 1 bullet constantly), loot drone (to collect needed upgrade tokens or power-ups), shield (protects you from one game-ending shot), and radar (alerts you of nearby loot or other copters). These are pretty much better upgrade tokens, and are much more rare.

To add even more fun, you can also equip superpowers. These are basically weapons that can be found within mystery crates that also spawn around the map. Once you pop a crate, it has the chance to drop a superpower, but will always drop some upgrade tokens. I won't list every superpower as there are a lot, but you can always go play the game to find out! (Not a paid ad either). These superpowers are very beneficial to your game, as they can make you much harder to pop/make it easier for you to pop other copters. You can exchange superpowers with other superpowers if you want, because some are better than others (I personally like Rocket and Repulsive Shield).

If you want to add some more protection for yourself, you can build walls/bases. These will stop any bullets that come in contact with it if the bullet hits the actual wall part. By this, I mean that each wall you build has a weak connection point. Other copters can therefore break your walls if they shoot this weak connection point. However, if you collect the barrier strength upgrade token, then your weak connection points become a lot harder to break. I'm not a fan of building, but it can be very useful late game, since walls can take up a lot of space. Space is... let's just say... nice.

So far, you've been upgrading your copter. That's fun, but now the game turns up the heat. Literally. Toxic fog soon closes around the map in intervals of 30 seconds each. Creating a circle around the map, the toxic fog moves in slowly, until it forces all remaining copters to a centralized location. This simply makes the players fight until one comes out victorious. If you don't move within the toxic fog, you will die. This aspect of the game creates a smaller and smaller battle arena for the players so the endgame is easier to play. The map is really big, so forcing players to the center is necessary.

Another late game surprise comes with the addition of super crates. These crates spawn near the fog, so going after them is risky, not to mention everyone else wants them too. Super crates contain the most valuable loot in the game, so if you're not doing so well, these crates can be very beneficial. Super crates also spawn around the map before the fog starts enclosing, but are very few and far between. These crates can save your life in some cases, so crack them open if you see them.

The game also has many customization options for your copter, like different copters (just looks, no special abilities), colors, emotes, trails, and badges. You can unlock better options by leveling up, which you need xp for. You earn xp each game depending on how many copters you popped and how long you stayed alive for. The max level is 80 right now, but may be increased.

Overall, this game is a great way to get out the urge to play video games. Being a battle royale, it's a test of skill and strategy (and computer ping) that makes the game fun. I'm really good in my opinion, winning about half of the game I play. It all comes down to your play style.

Main Topics:

Be the last copter standing in a battle royale free-for-all elimination match.

Pop other copters, but don't get popped.

Collect upgrade tokens, power-ups, and superpowers around the map to improve your copter.

Don't get swallowed by the toxic fog that closes around the arena, bringing all to the center.

Level up to unlock many customization options for your copter.

Pokemon Go

I'm not going to dive deep into Pokemon Go, because I have a feeling most people have heard of it. My brother introduced it to me around 2 years ago, and now I'm addicted. You can catch Pokemon, battle other Pokemon, etc. Very fun; gotta catch'em all!

Chess

Chess is a nice way to use my brain for something mildly useful. I feel smarter when I play chess, something I can't say about the other games listed. I've managed to work my way up to 1150 rapid, which I don't think is entirely terrible.

JetPunk

Not really a game, but it deserves a spot on his list. I love waking up every morning to the thought of Jeppy in my mind. JetPunk feels like a safe place I can be myself, thanks to the awesome community. I really enjoy making quizzes and blogs, and taking quizzes is also part of the fun. My life wouldn't be complete without JetPunk.

These are the biggest games I play in my free time. I do play some others, but not as often. I hope you enjoyed reading about each game, and if they seem interesting, try them out. You may not like them as much as I do, but who knows. Thank you for stopping by!

I still love video games. My mainstays are Fortnite, Minecraft, Doom, Call of Duty, Five Nights at Freddy's, Plants vs. Zombies, Rainbow Six Seige, and hundreds of others that I love but have only played once or twice. I'm currently working through the Riddle School series and Resident Evil 4, as well.

And then whatever game websites are unblocked on the school computers. chess.com too.

I also really like games that are just insane and make no sense. If you like that kind of stuff, check out Eastern Mind, it's what I'm playing through right now.
