JetPunk Wars Simulation Game

+8

Welcome Fellow JetPunkers!

I am introducing a new blog series where you, the JetPunk community, will compete in a free-for-all style war simulation game! More below. (Also please note that this is my first attempt at doing something like this. If the rules are still unclear to you at the end, or something doesn't even make sense, please let me know in the comments. I will try to explain this simulation to the best of my ability, but I am not expecting it to be perfect. Thank you in advance!)

The Overview:

Here is how the simulation will work. You will get to select any country from the list provided. If there are not enough countries for everyone, I will add more. You only get to pick one country, and you cannot switch countries once you have chosen. The countries are first come first serve, so if you are late to the party, it's on you not me. Sign ups will end November 15 at 12:00 am EST, so claim a country while you can. The better your country, the better off you will be. To sign up, name the country you want. If more time is needed, or I simply don't have enough people, I will extend the deadline, or just cut this simulation completely (hopefully neither will be the outcome).

List of viable countries for this simulation (below)Explanation of number system (below).

United States(200), Russia(200), China(200), India(200), South-Korea(180), United-Kingdom (180), Japan(180), Turkey(180), Pakistan(160), Italy(160), France(160), Brazil(160), Indonesia(140), Iran(140), Egypt(140), Australia(140), Israel(120), Ukraine(120), Germany(120), Spain(120), Poland(100), Vietnam(100), Saudi Arabia(100), Taiwan(100).

Kazakhstan(100) - claimed by contestant Astana.

The numbers associated with each country are its power rank (money) for this simulation. Each country gets their (starting money) as shown, and you will be able to spend it on equipment to attack or defend your country. If you run out of money, you will not be able to spend it on anything else, leaving you vulnerable. Aid will be given throughout the game, but spend your money wisely. Not all countries are equal, and this simulation is the same.

If more countries are needed, I will add more with the (100) power ranking (money). If more people want to play than I expect, I will reorganize the power rankings (money). If an odd number of participants sign up by the deadline, I will play as well. Keep reading for more details.

How The Game Is Set Up:

Once the deadline for claiming countries is over, the battles begin. I will randomly select two countries (players) to fight, and will post the match-ups after the deadline. Once you see your match-up, you have 3 days to make your preparations, buying 2 things you think you will need (for sake of secrecy, I will make individual groups for every participant so you can discuss your battle strategy with me). When the time is up, I will post the results of every battle.

Here are the supplies/battling options and system:

Infantry level 1 (3), Infantry level 2 (5), Infantry level 3 (10),

Missile level 1 (3), Missile level 2 (5), Missile level 3 (10),

Barricade level 1 (3), Barricade level 2 (5), Barricade level 3 (10),

Deflector level 1 (3), Deflector level 2 (5), Deflector level 3 (10),

Tank Infantry (20), Nuclear Missile (20).

* (#) = cost. Costs are taken directly out of your starting total.

* If I think of more equipment to add, I will. However, this will likely be fine. I don't want to over-complicate the game.

For the purposes of this simulation, all countries that go to war will magically border each other, so there is no complaining. Infantry attacks your enemy by ground, while barricades defend your country by ground. Missiles attack your enemy from above, while deflectors defend your country from above. There are no defenses for Tanks or Nukes, but they cost more (getting a better country is better, this is a reality simulation, not a fair game).

Battling:

To make the battle match-ups, I will spin a randomized wheel, pairing two random countries. These pairs will go to war, each buying 2 items to use against their enemy or for themselves. Example simulation is shown below.

Country X - Japan (180):

Bought: Infantry level 2 (5), Deflector level 3 (10).

Total cost: (15), New sum: (165).

Country Y - Australia (140):

Bought: Barricade level 2 (5), Missile level 2 (5).

Total cost: (10), New sum: (130).

Note: This is likely how I will set up each battle, using randomized wheels when needed. Keep in mind that each player will not know what the other player is choosing, making it a game of chance (LIKE REAL LIFE).

After this simulated battle between Japan and Australia, there were some back-and-forth attacks. Japan attacked Australia with Infantry level 2, and Australia defended with Barricade level 2. This outcome is a tie, since both players used level 2 items. In cases of ties, a randomized wheel will be used to determine the outcome.

Australia attacked Japan with Missile level 2, and Japan defended with Deflector level 3. This outcome is a successful defense from Japan, and so neither country wins (more money was spent by Japan from this success, however).

In outcomes like this, the randomized wheel used for the Infantry attack / Barricade defense will determine which country comes out victorious. For sake of the simulation, we will say that Japan's Infantry was successful (determined by the random wheel). This means that Japan would win the battle.

Each victory for a country will earn them 1 point. To eliminate another country, it is a best out of 3 scenario, so you must win 2 of 3 battles between your opponent to move on. After each respective round of battles are over, each remaining country will receive (50) [currency name in comments] by the bank (me) to replenish. You probably won't be able to do much by spending the lowest amount of money every time, so be ready to spend money :)

Note 1: In outcomes where each country successfully attacks/defends, I will (again) use a random wheel to determine which country wins the battle. I think this is the best way to handle the situation, but if you have a different idea, let me know. I want less powerful countries to have some sort of chance in this, so randomizing this aspect as well seems reasonable.

Note 2: Many aspects of this game are randomized, so if you happen to lose a battle this way, don't bash me please. By randomizing the certain aspects I have, it makes the game better and faster. Trust me. Please don't whine in the comments of every post because your Taiwan got paired with Russia. You were late to join, so you got Taiwan. It isn't my fault, and the randomized wheel spoke for me.

Note 3: If you are inactive for the 3 day preparation period and do not give me your plan, you will lose the battle. I am trying to give each player time to think/live their actual life, but if you cannot be on JetPunk that often, please don't sign up. It'll be more fun for everyone.

Final Words:

This game may take a long time, and will certainly be composed of many blog posts. To not miss out, consider subscribing to my blog channel while you're part of the simulation. You can unsubscribe after if you desire, but I don't want you to miss the posts or forget about anything. After each respective round of 3 battles are over, I will post the remaining countries and next match-ups, along with the additional (50) [currency name in comments] you will receive. Once every single battle has been fought, I will post one last blog for the winner of the JetPunk Wars Simulation Game. I have not decided what the prize is yet, maybe just fame and glory.

If you sign up, please constantly check your notifications. I will be making individual groups with each player to discuss battle plans, and will be posting results regularly. You can leave the group after the games are finished. When discussing battle plans, please be specific.

If anything strange happens during the games, or if I think of something to implement, I will notify all at the end of one of the blogs. I think the layout of the game is fairly organized, but again, this is my first time doing something like this. I'm not expecting everything to go perfectly, but hopefully it will be smooth sailing. You can always look back on this blog for the rules (I will as well).

Thank you all, and I hope to see you in the comments! First come, first serve! Check this blog multiple times, just in case you picked a country that was already picked.

Nice blog! My brother had also this idea, but I didn't know how to realize it. You made/make the game very great.

You could be think of a multiplicator. A powerful army could have a little higher chance to win (only a little!). Then it is not too unfair, but more powerful countries still have a higher chance.

I think I'll choose Germany.

Neither of those countries are viable options. You can only select one country, so I can either add one of these countries with the power ranking (100), or you can select a country from the list here. Countries you can NOT choose include:

Israel, Italy, United States, Germany, India, Pakistan, South Korea, United Kingdom, China, Kazakhstan, France, Brazil, or Iran. These countries are taken. Any other country from the list is acceptable.

Again, i can add North Korea or Liechtenstein, but they will have a power ranking of 100. You can read about the simulation with the link, and respond after.
