Shining Light on Hidden Gems #6 - SonyVondern

Explanation

In this series, I will be displaying users who you may or may not know so well, but that I think deserves more credit. This could be that the user has well made quizzes which don't have many plays, or that the user is a great person and should be recognized by more people. Whatever the case may be, I will be talking about it here. This is not an interview, as that would be a direct ripoff of baptistegorce's "Interview of a JetPunker" series, which is not my intention at all. I simply want to spotlight users who I think should be more popular. Enjoy!

Hidden Gem #6 - SonyVondern

I have selected user SonyVondern as my sixth entry in this series because I think his account doesn't get the attention it should, even though he has some nice quizzes. I've been able to connect with Sony on a deeper level outside of JetPunk directly, which motivates me to make him my next hidden gem. I believe he has potential with his quizzes, although he isn't the most active these days. Either way, I think he deserves to be highlighted.

SonyVondern's Best Quizzes

Sony has as little over 20,000 takes as of posting this blog, with only 1 Featured quiz. This quiz is, to no real surprise, an MCCQ (Multiple Choice City Quiz). This quiz won't be Featured in this blog directly, so I'll link it for you here. In my opinion, it's one of the better MCCQs out there, and I'm glad it got recognized. Other than this, he has created over 150 quizzes, many in various languages. A lot of his most taken quizzes come from non-English languages, but some of his better quizzes are ones that don't have many takes. So, here is what I think Sony's best quizzes are.

Country Flags with a Bird - Sudden Death

His Country Flags with a Bird - Sudden Death has less than 1,000 takes as of posting this blog. The reason I have selected it at all is because it's well made. For takers who may not know flags by heart, it presents a great challenge of memory and process of elimination. Even for the geography nerds like myself, it still makes you think about the little details, or even the large emblems (I was thoroughly stumped after forgetting what Spain and Montenegro's flags looked like because of this quiz lol). The distractors he used were brilliant and made me think. I can definitely see this quiz being Featured, even though it may not be very soon.

Which Flag is Correct?

Which Flag is Correct? is another fabulous flag quiz that is just as challenging as the one above. In the quiz above, the flags were not shown (hence the memory aspect I talked about). In this quiz, two flags are shown side by side, and it's your job to identify which flag is the correct version of the actual country flag. For example, if the question was "Which flag of Australia is correct?", then you would have to pick the real flag of Australia, with a very similar looking flag trying to trick you right beside it. The false flags have very small differences, which adds to the fun of the quiz, because, if you don't know your flags, you may not get a very good score. The order of the flags are shuffled every time you take the quiz, so memorizing the placements will not work - it's a true test of flag knowledge. While I don't see it getting Featured, the quiz is well made and deserved more attention.

Odd One Out - Countries #1

Like the quiz above, his Odd One Out - Countries #1 is pretty underrated, even though it's well made. The quiz is multiple choice, with each question describing a particular aspect related to 3 out of the 4 possible country options displayed. It's the user's job to choose the "odd one out", as the title says. The questions are good, and the 'distracting' countries are usually tricky, if the user isn't a geography nerd. This quiz could be Featured, and I think it's a good choice.

European Islands - Sudden Death

European Islands - Sudden Death is another nice geography test. This time, it's about islands. Many islands are displayed, and you have to click all the European options without clicking an island found anywhere else but Europe. It's fun, and gives a solid challenge. Some islands are straightforward while others are islands I've never heard of. A well-constructed quiz, and he even made an Asian Islands version which you should check out too.

Of course, Sony has many other great quizzes which you should check out HERE. It was honestly pretty difficult to select a handful of quizzes for this blog, since many of his are solid overall. However, these were some of my favorites, and could potentially be Featured. If he continues to make quizzes, his work may get more attention too.

SonyVondern's Best Blogs

Sony has made a few blogs over his time on JetPunk, being notably the fan-favorite series of County Overviews. This series comprises of 10 blogs (will likely expand more) which discuss U.S. Counties from various states across the country. Users can request a county they want to see discussed, and Sony will find facts and information on each county. There are usually 4-5 counties in each blog of the series, and each episode is just as good as the last. I personally enjoy reading about all these seemingly random counties from my own country, and my personal favorite blog from this series is County Overviews #9 because it includes my home county of Charleston, South Carolina! (For some reason, 4 of his 10 blogs in this series are not actually in the series link above, so go to his blog section in general to find the rest). This series never disappoints.

SonyVondern in the Community

Sony is not very active in the community these days, likely due to the happenings of April this year. However, he is active elsewhere, allowing me to connect more with him and gain another online friend. I'm glad to have him on JetPunk, as his work hasn't gotten too dusty. He will occasionally hop on JetPunk to make a quiz or comment, but not often, at least not what I see. Either way, he's still a known JetPunker in the small little community we have here.

Well, that wraps up this blog. Overall, I'm just suggesting you support this user. He makes really good content that tends to go unnoticed. Not always, but sometimes. I will make more of these in the future, as I already have ideas of who I want to feature in upcoming blogs. Thanks for reading, and if you haven't clicked on those links above, do so now!

Only real ones will know why the thumbnail is what it is.

Also, sorry about the LOOONG delay on blogging, I've been very lazy for no particular reason. I may try to get back on schedule... no guarantees.
