Do any true "Jetpunkers" remember this historical piece of Jetpunk history?
Hello, this is MasterofTrivia here to retell this forgotten piece of Jetpunk history.
First off you would have to be a true veteran jetpunker to remember what, at the time of 2021, became the biggest pandemic since COVID hit the streets in 2020.
It began with just a few, harmless, normal looking blogs from a few users named Austin and Instagate. However, over a short period of time they began to post blog after blog of useless copy and pasted paragraphs (some even in different languages). People started catching on to what was going on and began berating them in the comments, but... they did not cease with their actions and even started recruiting other people to spam blogs as well causing the RUB to go into a deep spiral of endless and useless blogs. This was getting out of hand and this incident became known as "The Blog Spamdemic". After a while it finally fizzled out, but it took years to get RUB back to its full and true self, the way it was before.
Anyways, I'm glad I could pass along and tell this forgotten travesty in Jetpunk history and if there are any true jetpunkers out there who remember this let me know because I think the only veteran who could possibly remember this is Stewart. I hope you found this to be an interesting peace of Jetpunk history and thank you for reading!
Insaniot, I completely agree with you, in my opinion the RUB is now in this cycle forever. Several creators (who, no hate) are still immature children so they will see constructive criticism as bullying or hatespeech. I don't leave comments anymore on blogs for that reason.
Glad to see someone else understand ;)
And I agree with the comments above, it happened tens of time, before and after the one you mention. Everyone remembers LBB in 2020, for example. I wouldn't have picked this example since I'm not sure that the most evocative one.
As for the "biggest piece of JetPunk history", well it was pretty big at the time, however I'd say the Tancred Drama was more impactful, and it took the RUB about 5-6 months to recover, not years. Actually, three years after the Spamdemic, the RUB was basically dead.
Stilll good idea to teach this history to the new users, though. Thanks!
