Brief History
On February 1st 2022 Stewart released the Daily Word Search, one new puzzle every day, for 365 days. After the year passed the minigame went away briefly, until it's return 2 months later, this time every puzzle was available to play whenever, instead of only on it's specific day.
While it did return, the daily new puzzles didn't, with only a few dozen puzzled being made in the following years. Finally on February 1st 2026, (4 years after its initial release), daily featured puzzles returned, with a mega puzzle from Simon1006.
A week later on February 8th (thanks to a massive overhaul from Stewart) puzzles became available to make for all users, with there now being a distinction between featured and non-featured puzzles, along with the addition of a comment section, and a dedicated section for word searches.
Stats and Charts!
Now for why you are really here, our beloved obsession with stats and charts! (All stats are for between February 1st and May 11th 2026 unless otherwise stated)
Stat 1: # of Puzzles
And here is the total number!
Stat 2: # of Takes
Featured puzzles average just under 2,000 takes, with nearly all of them coming on the day of feature, and the days immediately near the front page date.
The best performing puzzle was Mini Countries from vitriden, sitting at 3,109 takes currently, and the worst performing puzzle by far is Mega Countries in Pig Latin by Danny999, sitting currently at 532 takes, it is a more recent feature, however as stated previously, puzzles don't gain many takes outside their front page date.
The best performing mega was Mega Country Shapes from Simon1006, sitting at 1,705 takes, and the worst performing regular was Cryptic Search by Dimby, sitting at 1,103 takes.
No chart here, but, surprising to me is the ratio between Featured and Un-featured takes, with 85% of takes coming from featured quizzes and 15% from un-featured, I was expecting a 95/5 split, but the other languages help a lot here!
(These figures only take into account puzzles made since the overhaul, otherwise the split would be 99/1).
Stat 3: Users
32 users have earned a featured puzzle, from what I estimate 100+ users who have created a puzzle.
The chart above is between February 1st and May 16th, as I didn't wanna estimate for May 11th.
Despite only releasing one new puzzle since the overhaul, Stewart has amassed the most takes since then, thanks to the volume of features he already had, all which gained a modest amount of takes.
Stat 4: Other Languages
And now for the other language sections!
English isn't shown on the following charts as it would dominate and make the rest of the info useless.
As only english has featured puzzles, other languages lack behind a little bit, with only french and polish really shining thanks to a couple of users.
If non-featured English was a section, it would have ~14,800, barely more than French, despite having nearly ×10 the puzzles!
Fun Fact(s)
• Megas were originally on Saturdays and Sundays, but only a month in they were switched to only Sundays.
I couldn't think of any more fun facts :(
Let me know if you have any worth sharing!
Hopefully you all enjoyed this short blog, keep making and taking puzzles, and I'll see if I remake this for 365 days!
Of course massive thanks to Stewart for the overhaul and moderation of the section!
Note: some of these charts have been made by others, many haven't been updated in a while but regardless I had to remake them to put them in this blog, (I did steal Kilo's color scheme for the puzzles per user chart though, I like it).
and 75 unffeatured not 68
Your 4th feature is on the front page after May 11th
This is a recap, not a live leaderboard
I'm planning to add a section on sizes soon.
