Driver Rankings
Jack Doohan: 2.34
Maxibon - 2/10
Doohan was one of six rookies to join the grid in 2025, though he didn't make it to the end of the season, being dropped after Round 6 in Miami. Whilst this was a bit harsh, achieving a highest finish of 13th after six races and two sprints isn't exactly impressive.
McKenzieFam - 2/10
Doohan just didn't really perform very well. We also didn't get to see him for very long, so his ranking drops lower. While some of the poor performance can be attributed to the car, some was definitely his lack of experience as well (see what Gasly managed to pull off driving this tractor).
Thibaud - 3/10
He was already under pressure before the start of the season as Colapinto joined the team. Overall, he didn't have much time to prove himself but the crash in Japan costed him a lot.
Franco Colapinto: 3.67
Maxibon - 4/10
Colapinto hit the ground running in Formula 1 with a brilliant stint with Williams in the latter part of 2024. However, this was not replicated in 2025, as he failed to score any points. Something to note is that Colapinto has finished every race he has started, though he is quite accident-prone nonetheless.
McKenzieFam - 3/10
I think people had high hopes for Colapinto this year, but he didn't really live up them. He drove his slow car cautiously (mostly) and wasn't really rewarded with many opportunities to shine. Though he was the only only driver besides Russell to never record a DNF this season, he did still end up crashing several times in practice and qualifying, with a few minor incidents in-race as well.
Thibaud - 4/10
After a really disastrous start, he somehow managed to get close enough to Gasly, even beating him sometimes in quali. He crashed less than last year but didn't manage to do any memorable performance.
Yuki Tsunoda: 4.34
Maxibon - 5/10
Tsunoda got his long awaited Red Bull seat this year, and he wishes he'd never gotten it. He scored a mere 33 points in third fastest car on the grid, however it should be known that when he failed to score, he usually wasn't too far off from the points positions.
McKenzieFam - 4/10
Yuki's promotion to the senior team came at exactly the wrong time for him. The RB21 was packed with power but was also notoriously hard to handle, leaving Tsunoda struggling to score at most races this season.
Thibaud - 4/10
He never found any pace in the Red Bull apart in Qatar. Yes the car is really hard to drive, and yes he would have done better in the Racing Bulls, but it's still more disappointing than Perez.
Lance Stroll: 4.67
Maxibon - 6/10
Stroll didn't have a particularly astonishing season, he had a few solid performances and wasn't completely outperformed by teammate Alonso. He also kept himself mostly out of stupid incidents, which he has become infamous for in recent years.
McKenzieFam - 4/10
Stroll may be the most-hated driver by the fanbase, but he didn't too terribly this season. That being said, he didn't do particularly well either, generally becoming a driver who is just quietly 'there'. If Aston Martin can provide a better car next season, we'll see if he can step up to the challenge.
Thibaud - 4/10
After some really solid races in the start of the season, he became transparent. Of course he can't do miracles with this car, and was relatively close from his teammate, but it is still not good enough.
Liam Lawson: 5
Maxibon - 5/10
After his horrible Red bull stint, Lawson showed what he was capable of in Racing Bulls, securing quite a bit of points. He would be rated higher had it not been for his recklessness and frequent crashes.
McKenzieFam - 5/10
Lawson finally started to have some good races, getting through to Q1 multiple times. However, he is also inconsistent, regularly failing to escape Q1. If he can find some race-day consistency then he'll surely start bringing home strong results.
Thibaud - 5/10
An horrible start of the season but after half a year he managed to get really close to Hadjar in terms of pace. He saved his seat in F1 and proved he had a great pure pace.
Pierre Gasly: 5.34
Maxibon - 6/10
This season, Gasly has dragged the Alpine to places where it just does not belong. He made it to Q3 ten times and managed to get P6 in Silverstone, though his numerous lows drag his overall rating down.
McKenzieFam - 5/10
Gasly was a skilled driver with a very poor car this season. Nevertheless, he still managed to somehow score 22 points across the season, making several Q1 appearances and even recording a P6 during a crazy race day at Silverstone.
Thibaud - 5/10
Fast in quali, grabbed some big points when it was possible like in Silverstone, but he had 2 poor teammates next to him and give the impression to not give his maximum, waiting for next year.
Lewis Hamilton: 5.34
Maxibon - 6/10
Hamilton had an absolute nightmare of a season, with the only brilliant result being his sprint win in China. In my opinion, 'torture' is a fitting word to describe Lewis' first season in red.
McKenzieFam - 6/10
Lewis really struggled to connect with his machine this season, leading to multiple Q1 exits and several recovery drives not befitting a seven-time world champion. We did get to see some flashes, such as his lights-to-flag sprint win in China and a few P4 finishes, but that was it.
Thibaud - 4/10
His season is disastrous, yes the car is complicated to drive and he had to adapt to a brand new environment, but Leclerc has always been faster, and he didn't make a single podium in regular races. Didn't bring a good energy to the team too.
Esteban Ocon: 5.67
Maxibon - 6/10
I'm not giving Ocon a six because he performed badly, it wasn't anything particularly impressive, but it wasn't bad. I'm giving him a six because he was matched by his rookie teammate when he has 9 years of experience.
Thibaud - 5/10
Ocon hasn't lost his pace but it seems that after a good first half, he didn't find the right set up to get the best out of the car, unlike his rookie teammate. Abu Dhabi showed it. That's quite embarrassing for a driver that made his debuts in 2016.
McKenzieFam - 5/10
Ocon didn't really seem to get great results this season. He didn't really do much wrong (not much anyways) but he was just outperformed by the other drivers a lot. Bearman showed that the car can give good results, but Ocon didn't find them.
Gabriel Bortoleto: 6
Maxibon - 6/10
Bortoleto is a relatively good qualifier, and he scored a big haul of points in the European leg of the season, though he isn't all that consistent. Instead of being good all throughout, he had a few brilliant performances with the rest being mediocre.
McKenzieFam - 6/10
Bortoleto keeps showing flashes of brilliance, often performing better than his much more experienced teammate Hülkenberg. However, some of his average performances have shown that he still has a way to improve.
Thibaud - 6/10
After a quiet first half of the season, he beat Hülkenberg in the 2nd and did a few impressive performances, while doing really poor ones also like in Brazil. Still promising for next season.
Nico Hülkenberg: 6
Maxibon - 6/10
Hülkenberg has had some high highs this season, namely his P3 and P5 finishes, and some low lows. He scored points regularly, though qualifying was definitely not his strong suit.
MckenzieFam - 6/10
Hülkenberg's maiden podium was a long time coming, but a strong drive through a chaotic Silverstone finally gave it to him. At other races, however, he didn't do as well, often being outdone by his rookie teammate. Overall though he did far better than in 2024.
Thibaud - 6/10
He started the season really well until his first podium in Silverstone. But in the 2nd half he went from one of the most impressive driver to being beaten by his rookie teammate.
Fernando Alonso: 6.34
Maxibon - 6/10
McKenzieFam - 7/10
Alonso probably would have liked to do better in his 23rd season, but he still did pretty well, easily outqualifying and most outracing his teammate Stroll. His best finish was P5 in Hungary, though he did perform well at his home race in Barcelona as well.
Thibaud - 6/10
Alonso still had a great pace overall and a great race management, he was somehow unlucky and disappointing in some situations like when he crashed in Australia, a rookie error.
Carlos Sainz: 6.34
Maxibon - 6/10
Sainz scored a few points here and there, but it's his podiums which earn him his ranking. I really considered giving him a 7, though I decided against it when reminded of his nightmare European leg of the season.
McKenzieFam - 7/10
Thibaud - 6/10
His adaptation to the team was difficult at first, especially considering Albon's start of the season, but he progressively mastered the car and finished the seasons far faster than Albon. His podium in Qatar showed it.
Alexander Albon: 6.34
Maxibon - 7/10
Albon had an absolutely amazing beginning of the season, though he failed to score a single point in the last eight races of the year. Aside from that, he consistently bagged big points for Williams.
McKenzieFam - 6/10
Thibaud - 6/10
His season his difficult to judge because after a really impressive start, he progressively lost it, especially when comparing to his teammate. This downfall is strange.
Kimi Antonelli: 6.34
Maxibon - 6/10
Antonelli didn't exactly impress initially, especially with scoring points once in seven races, though towards the end he redeemed himself with back-to-back podiums.
McKenzieFam - 7/10
Thibaud - 6/10
He remained mentally strong while under critics for a poor start of the season. Despite his little experienced, he improved a lot and went closer to Russell and ended the seasons really well with some podiums. Encouraging.
Oliver Bearman: 6.67
Maxibon - 6/10
Bearman consistently performed well, and tied Haas' best finish of 4th, though he has gotten himself in a large amount of silly incidents, putting his penalty points total at ten.
McKenzieFam - 7/10
Bearman performed incredibly well in his rookie season, most notably earning a P4 finish in Mexico. He also made more overtakes than any other driver this season, though his string of poor Qualifying sessions prevented him from scoring more points.
Thibaud - 7/10
An impressive first season, he fit really well the car and took the opportunities like in Mexico, unlike his teammate. And did few disappointing weekends. If he confirms this, he could go to Ferrari soon.
Isack Hadjar: 7
Maxibon - 7/10
Hadjar is, in my opinion, the best rookie of the season, and by quite a bit. Making Q3 more often than not and scoring a podium after 15 races speak for themselves.
McKenzieFam - 7/10
Hadjar consistently outperformed his teammate Lawson throughout the season. His formation lap crash at the season opener totally didn't reflect his performances to come. He definitely earned his promotion to the senior team, hopefully it doesn't turn out badly for him.
Thibaud - 7/10
He was the most unexperienced driver on the grid but adapted really fast to the new tracks and was abled to find the pace really quickly. Really fast in quali, more complicated in race but it is linked to the car. Still did impressive performances like in Zandvoort.
Charles Leclerc: 7.34
Maxibon - 7/10
Leclerc didn't fair much better than Lewis, though he was able to extract a bit more pace from the car since he's gotten used to it by now. There were a few blips of actual pace, such as pole in Hungary and several P2 finishes, though these were short-lived.
McKenzieFam - 8/10
Leclerc did the best that he could do in the Scuderia, proving that the car wasn't completely bad. He bagged a few podiums, which were nice, but couldn't really challenge Verstappen and the McLaren duo in most races.
Thibaud - 7/10
A disappointing season for him, far from expectations, he dominated against his teammate but still did mistakes and sometimes we felt that he could do more with the car. A season to forget but he is still able to drive fast.
George Russell: 8.34
Maxibon - 8/10
McKenzieFam - 8/10
I was impressed with Russell this season. He looked competitive in nearly every race, and even managed two wins, the only driver outside the top three to win a race in 2025. He made very little errors throughout the season, overall being a solid competitor with a good car.
Thibaud - 9/10
Russell confirmed his progression year after year, he gave the impression he did his best with the car he had. He didn't make mistakes and took some opportunities when they came.Oscar Piastri: 8.67
Maxibon - 9/10
Piastri seemed undefeatable, uncrackable if you will, for most of the season, though after a DNF in Azerbaijan, he never seemed to fight his form again. Still, for someone in his third year in Formula 1, leading the championship for so long is extremely incredible.
McKenzieFam - 9/10
Piastri had a perfect run of form throughout most of the season, but I'm not quite giving him a perfect ten because of that late-season drop in performance. It's hard to emphasize how much of a certainty his victory seemed before Azerbaijan. He still dominated the majority of races, finishing either first or second in exactly half the races this year, not counting Sprints.
Thibaud - 8/10
Piastri did a better job than his teammate until Monza, but his behavior was a bit controversial like in Canada Austria. In the 2nd half he absolutely bottled the championship as he seemed that he was in a negative mental mood. But he still showed how fast he can be and will be in the title race next year.
Lando Norris: 9
Maxibon - 9/10
Unlike Max and Oscar, Lando didn't really dominate a part of this season, he had wins sprinkled all throughout. We have witnessed him make mistakes, such as in Canada and in qualifyings in Jeddah and Baku, though all in all, he has improved and is worthy of being World Champion.
McKenzieFam - 9/10
My rankings of Norris have improved since he won the World Championship, but I'm still not giving him a ten. He has won so many races and had lots of strong performances, and definitely deserves this place, though he never really seemed to clearly dominate the way Piastri did. In addition, he made a few costly mistakes at a couple races. Nonetheless, he ultimately won and earned the top spot here.
Thibaud - 9/10
Lando clearly deserve this championship, thanks to a dominant car, but despite some mistakes and the engine failure in the NL, he remained fast and mentally strong till the end. The difference with Piastri.
Max Verstappen: 10
Maxibon - 10/10
We all know by now just how great Verstappen is, and this was confirmed yet again this season. He seemed out of contention for the title after Bahrain, though after a dominant latter half of the season, he missed out on what would've been one of the greatest comebacks in Formula One's history by a measly two points.
McKenzieFam - 10/10
Well, I've increased my rating of Verstappen after seeing the second half of his season. His performance was incredible, absolutely dominating the last nine races to close his points margin from 104 points to just 2. If he was driving the best car on the grid, he certainly would have been WDC.
Thibaud - 10/10
His level was unmatched this year, he always managed to took the maximum from his car. The Spanish GP incident is the only time this seasons where he didn't remember us why he is a 4-time World Champion.

Besides that there are some changes to the final placements of the list with Stroll, Tsunoda and Lawson suffering minor demotions.

the last part could have been so much longer... :(
I wanted to save some quizzes for the upcoming blogs so as to not have a lot on this blog then very few on future ones.
I do feel like some drivers were rated with different criteria, mainly Hamilton, who seemed to be ranked based on him failing to meet expectations instead of his performance.
Whilst yes, there wasn't any set-in-stone criteria which we ranked all drivers in, compared to his teammate, Leclerc managed to get a pole position and multiple podiums whilst Hamilton got eliminated from Q1 three times in a row. Glad to see him performing better now.
I can't believe I forgot to write a paragraph for both the Williams boys 😅
