Introduction
I'm going to be sharing who my favorite creator on Jetpunk is and why they're my personal favorite. Let's start off with some clues so you can guess:
1. (To my knowledge) This Jetpunker joined Jetpunk in mid-2019.
2. This Jetpunker has over 490 public quizzes, of which 38 are featured.
3. This Jetpunker lives in the Netherlands.
Can you guess who it is?
If you guessed Simon1006, you are
It's Dekkie.
Why Dekkie's My Favorite
People nowadays tend to argue with each other on Facebook for ridiculous reasons, meanwhile Dekkie is out here casually reconstructing groundbreaking historical data on a quiz website like it's nothing. Any question you have about historical information can be immediately answered by Dekkie's quizzes. For example:
The Biggest Cities of the Roman Empire two millennia ago? Rome, Alexandria and Seleucia.
Every subdivision of Europe prior to World War II? Dekkie has a quiz on that too.
I remember first seeing one of Dekkie's quizzes. While searching for my quiz on the most taken Jetpunk featured quizzes, (Spoiler alert: I didn't realize it only listed featured quizzes. None of my quizzes were featured at the time.) I went to the last page because, at the time, my most played quiz only had <50 plays. I scrolled to the very bottom and saw a quiz with ~5,000 takes: "Every 5,000+ City in Europe Before the Black Death". My jaw dropped. Not because I was disappointed that none of my quizzes got up on the leaderboard, but at how impossible that quiz seemed to be.
It's not easy to determine the populations of 585 European cities in 1345, find the name they were referred to at the time and pinpoint them exactly where they are on the map. From there on, I became addicted to Dekkie's quizzes.
My Favorite Quizzes / Ending
Here are some of my favorite quizzes by Dekkie: (sorry for this blog being so short!)
• First American Cities in History to Reach 100,000 People
• Every 100,000+ City in 1900 on a Map
• Flags of Countries of the World in 1910
• 100 Biggest Cities in Austria-Hungary in 1910 With a Map
Dekkie if you're reading this, keep up the good work!
