Clue's Confusing Kill

In Clue, after Mr. Boddy gives everybody their weapons he says, "the only way to avoid finding yourself on the front pages is for one of you to kill Wadsworth, now." He then turns a light off. A gun shot is heard, and Mr. Boddy is found apparently dead, well, not quite dead. "He was dead I examined him." Well, Prof. Plum, you did a terrible job of it, and speaking of Prof. Plum, he says "The bullet broke that vase on the mantle" but that's impossible! Let's go through each killer for each ending. Mrs. Scarlet was on the other side of the room, to his left, Mrs. Peacock was to his right; Prof. Plum was around the middle. Now it's important to remember that Prof. Plum had the gun that shot Mr. Boddy, so Mrs. Peacock and Ms. Scarlet would have to run and get the gun from Prof. Plum. But either way none of them would have an idea as to where Mr. Boddy is so they'd likely shoot in his last know direction. You know, not near the vase on the mantle. And according to Wadsworth "the bullet grazed his ear" And if it did there'd be no way it could break the vase on the mantle.
