Ranking
An Honorable/Dishonorable Mention
Dishonorable Mention- Karl Stromberg- The Spy Who Loved Me
The Spy Who Loved Me - Stromberg death scene (youtube.com)
Karl Stromberg is a villain I like, and I wish he had a better death, I liked his hidden gun under the table, but all his death really amounts to is getting shot. I feel he should have had something more ocean themed as that's his entire character (seriously his plot is starting a new world under the sea, he has webbed fingers, and his henchmen is named Jaws) Overall pretty bad death
Honorable Mention- Alec Trevelyan- GoldenEye
Goldeneye 007: Trevelyan's Death (youtube.com)
Alec Trevelyan is an interesting case here because the fall doesn't kill him the control room falling into him does! When that fall totally would've killed him no questions asked. That for me is why he can only get to an honorable mention if the fall did kill him, he'd be higher it's just that him surviving has been bugging me for a while.
10- Franz Sanchez-Licence to Kill
Licence To Kill - Sanchez death scene (youtube.com)
I like this death it's very nice it makes sense how the fire spreads so quickly as he's covered in oil however, one thing is holding it back for me. It's too fast his death lasts about five seconds I wish it were just a little longer otherwise pretty solid death
09-Auric Goldfinger- Goldfinger
Goldfinger - Goldfinger death scene (youtube.com)
If not for someone higher on the list, this would be the funniest death in all of James Bond. There's something about the way he gets sucked out and the terrible green screen effects that just makes this absolutely priceless just a real joy to watch
08 Dr. No- Dr. No
Dr. No - Dr. No death scene (youtube.com)
This is the first main villain death in the series, and I give it an edge for that but still his death is really great to watch as it's entirely Dr. No's fault (and not because he could've killed bond 100 times already) if he didn't engage in a fight with Bond, he could've escaped same with Goldfinger they choose to engage in combat and that always fails in the long ed for the villain rule number 1 of being a Bond villain: Don't engage in combat with Bond you will die
07- Max Zorin- A View to a Kill
A View To A Kill - Zorin death scene (youtube.com)
Something interesting about this death is it seems that Zorin foreshadows his own death earlier in the film with May Day she looks at the Golden Gate Bridge and says, "what a view" and Zorin responds by saying "to a kill" which foreshadows his own death of falling from the bridge it also is a call back to when earlier after he drops a man out of his blimp into the water they even fall in similar ways
06- Dr. Kananga- Live and Let Die
Live And Let Die - Kananga death scene (youtube.com)
This is what I was saying about the funniest death, if you haven't seen it click the link above the text it will make your day. Kananga's death is just so overly absurd that it is the only reason he ranks this high, I'm not the biggest fan of Kananga normally but in the death department this is amazing
05- Dario- Licence to Kill
License to Kill (1989) Dario Death Scene (youtube.com)
Honestly, not a single complaint here this is great. I don't have much to say about this one other than this and one other is why I included henchmen on the list. This death is great
04- Francisco Scaramanga- The Man with the Golden Gun
The Man with the Golden Gun - Scaramanga death scene (youtube.com)
This is the highest I will ever rank a getting shot villain death the reason this one works for me is A) Cristopher Lee plays it really well it actually looks like he's been shot. And B) the whole reason this happened is because Bond and Scaramanga were having a duel, and it just felt natural
03- Gustav Graves- Die Another Day
Die Another Day - Gustav Graves death scene (youtube.com)
For some reason every single line said in this scene is great. I love how cocky Graves is especially when saying "Oh look parachutes for the both of us! woops not anymore!" and "You can't kill my dreams for my dreams can kill you" I like Bond's one liner of 'Time to face gravity" and then making Graves fly into the engine it just feels really nice
02- Hugo Drax- Moonraker
Moonraker - Drax death scene (youtube.com)
This death scene is amazing almost every quip is on point and just I really like him being sent out into space but I'm here to talk about Bond's one liners first is after he hits Drax with the poison dart and says "heartbroken Mr. Drax" then when opening the airlock "take a giant step for mankind" the one thing it's missing is his last quip "he had to fly" that should've been he needed some space
01- Boris Grishenko- GoldenEye
Yes! I am invincible! (youtube.com)
Boris Grishenko is and has always been my favorite Bond henchman. On a regular basis will actually quote his "Yes! I am invincible!" This death to me is just the right blend of coolness and comedy.
