About
I have spent more time looking at maps, and have found more Interstates that just serve no purpose in improving how fast you can cross the country. Also I have decided to revise the old list a little.
DISCLAIMER
Most of these interstates are under construction and just look pointless on a map right now. I haven't driven or been to most of these interstates. It is just my opinion based on looking at maps.
Revisions to Pointless Interstates 1
I have decided that Interstate 93 shouldn't have been on the first list. Sure, it doesn't go to Canada, but it goes right through the heart of Boston and thousands of people use it. It is a very busy Interstate. And Interstate 39 could've been more of an honorable mention, I'm just saying that is the least pointless on the list. On to the actual blog.
Interstate 14
Interstate 14 is planned to go as the image shows, in between I-20 and I-10, going through a lot of military bases. Right now, they have constructed about 30 miles going off of I-35 near San Antonio. It goes into Killeen, a town with about 175,000 people, and then stops. If it stayed the way it was, it should be an auxiliary interstate of I-35, but whatever. People keep talking about how it will never be built, but all the stuff I looked at was pictures of future plans for it. It could become a major interstate in the future. There is hype about it (if that can even exist for an interstate). That's why I could only find images of it's planned route, and none of it's current state.
Interstate 86 in Idaho
I-86 has two parts- one in Idaho and one in New York. The one in New York is a venerable interstate. It will go from Erie, Pennsylvania to NYC. It is definitely not the most important interstate out there, but it is definitely not the worst. The one in Idaho is bad, though. It connects Pocatello, a metro of 75,000, to I-84. Interstate 84 splits off of I-15 about 100 miles to the south. I don't see why there needs to be a 62 mile interstate connecting them together just a short distance away (by the standards of the American West). Also, I-84 has a section from Massachusetts to Pennsylvania. Why do both I-84 and I-86 have sections in Idaho and the Northeast?
One I wanted to put on here but couldn't
Interstate 76. It just serves one purpose- It provides people in Denver a way to cut through to I-80 Eastbound without using highways or state roads. The only reason I didn't put it on here is because Denver is a large metro, and I-80 is the busiest cross-country interstate.
Interstate 68
This is just on here to ragebait Pontiac. This Interstate connects I-70 to I-79, and doesn't go through any major towns, which is an accomplishment in the East. I suppose it does go through some pretty cool scenery with mountains and whatnot. But we're looking for efficiency here, not good scenery. Not much to say about it, it is just a filler interstate.
Next Blog Idea
I'm thinking about changing it up and doing interstate that should exist or should be connected.
Also, what is not efficient about it (Actual question)? What makes an interstate efficient?
I-68 connects big cities for the area. Morgantown is one of the biggest cities in West Virginia btw
