Nebraska

Intro

Nebraska is a state in the Midwest, it has a pretty bad geography if you ask me, in the east, endless corn fields, in the west, bluffs. The states that border Nebraska are Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Colorado. The U.S. got Nebraska after the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 but it didn’t immediately become a state, it became a state in 1867, two years after the Civil War.

Life

You’ll eventually get used to living in Nebraska, the life expectancy is pretty long and schools are nice.

Grand Island Senior High is the 3rd largest school in Nebraska.

Cities

Nebraska is home to several cities. Here’s a list of some cities:

•Omaha

•Lincoln

•Bellevue

•Grand Island

Those are the four most populated in the state.

Culture

Nebraska is full of Czechs and Native American reservations. But most people speak English. The people are extremely kind.

Why It’s Worth Visiting

There are several attractions that I find cool. Here are some:

Hotel Yancey in Grand Island.

Chimney Rock

Nebraska State Capitol

Geography

Nebraska is a partially “protected” state. It has bluffs to the west and plains to the east. Under Nebraska is an aquifer called the Ogallala Aquifer; one of the largest in the world, it’s named after the Nebraskan city Ogallala.

Fun Facts

Nebraska has the world’s smallest city, called Monowi. It used to have a population of 150 but they moved away to look for jobs, the only resident is a 93 year old woman named Elise Elier, she’s the mayor and a librarian of Monowi.

Another fact is Nebraska is the 16h largest state in land area at 77,348 Miles or 200,000 kilometers.

History

Nebraska's history began with Indigenous peoples, and the area became part of the U.S. through the Louisiana Purchase in 1803. The state was organized as a territory in 1854 with the Kansas-Nebraska Act and became the 37th U.S. state on March 1, 1867. Its history is marked by westward expansion, settlement fueled by the Homestead Act and railroads, and its role in the Civil War and the Cold War.

(I’m sorry, I used AI as I had stuff to do.)

Are you from Grand Island, by any chance?

Also worth visiting: the country's longest stretch of straight highway, and a town named Wahoo.

I'll just go ask ChatGPT to write a blog on Nebraska for me and go read that instead.

The only time I've been to Nebraska is just by hopping over the border and taking a pic in front of the state sign. Would love to see Carhenge and Chimney Rock though.

I sometimes hate living there because of the greedy farmers but overall rent is pretty cheap
