2026 Iran War Updates

I am not throwing any of my personal bias into these reports. All information has came from Wikipedia. If you have a problem with Wikipedia being my source, then leave and do your own research. This is just giving some updates of the war and is not being used to support, oppose, nor spread hate and even peace. This is a neutral blog and will not be tolerating any debates on whether this war is good or bad, or even just any arguments whatsoever. This is supposed to bring information, not as a way to debate or to give me a headache.

Also please note that I cannot get Iran's side of many things. Most of any information they give is either uncredible or straight up proven to be false. I will try my best but please realize that a regime that has blocked the internet for their civilians when they protest may not be the most trustworthy.

AND NO, THIS IS NOT POLITICAL!

Iran and the United States/Israel haven't truly gotten along since Iran had a regime change in 1979. In 2025, the US and Israel launched an attack on Iran targeting nuclear facilities. Iran has been trying to get a nuclear bomb for many years, something the United States hated (Allowing Iran to have a nuclear bomb would mean they would not be able to attack Iran if something bad happens). Israel also feared the bomb because Iran hates Israel.

In January, 2026, Iranian citizens began doing big protests against the horrors of the Iranian regime. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei responded with brutal force. While Iran claims only around 1,117 deaths, estimates around 40,000 people killed in two weeks, 30,000 of which in just 2 days. The United States had warned Iran about killing many protesters before the protest executions.

On February 6, 2026, The United States and Iran held an indirect nuclear negotiations in Muscat, Oman. These negotiations did not resolve anything. Ngotiations were later scheduled in Geneva, Switzerland. Between February 15-20, Iran sold 3 times as much oil as it did usually.

3 days before the attack, Oman's foreign Minister, Badr Al-Busaidi, said that a "breakthrough" had been made and Iran agreed to never stockpile enriched uranium, however, US Middle East Envoy Steve Witkoff said the Iran began recent nuclear talks (read up on that, I have no idea if this actually happened though).

A bunch of low cost decoy drones and missiles were launched at Iran from various locations around the Persian Gulf area and Israel heading for Iran. Iran launched counter measures at the decoy drones, something that was meant to happen so Iran would lose valuable and expensive missiles to cheap drones.

Later in the day, a missile hit a building in Tehran, Iran's capital. The building was completely destroyed. The reason why it was hit was because Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was in the building a long with some other high target profiles. Israel was the first to state Khamenei was dead, followed by the United States.

In response to the attacks, Iran began to bomb other Middle East nations such as Qatar, UAE, and Saudi Arabia, all of which had supported Iran before Iran started bombing them. After these incidents, these countries no longer supported Iran and started supporting the United States and Israel

The Mirab School, a girl's elementary school to be precise, was bombed. Iran and multiple news outlets has suspected the United States, however, there is still no clear evidence or historical reasoning to support that the United States did the airstrike. This is still under investigation and has not concluded yet. Please bear in mind that this is not presented in a way to show bias, I don't know who conducted the strikes or if it was an accident or if it was deliberate. I will only report what has been confirmed and not "under investigation."

To follow up on the Mirab School, if the attack was carried out by the US, the most likely intended target was the Sayyid al-Shuhada military complex, which is located right near the school as the school was once a part of the military complex. There is not an independent confirmation on how many had been killed in the attack.

Please note that the school bombing is still being investigated by CENTCOM and is still trying to find out what has happened!

Iran's top security official, Ali Larijani, announced the Interim Leadership Council and accused the US and Israel of attempting to dismantle Iran.

Iran declares the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Israel launches a new wave of strikes against Iran. This is targeting high ranking officials.

US President Donald Trump states to NBC News that "a large amount of leadership" in Iran has been killed. This included Khamenei. Donald Trump stated that the operation was to last within a 4 week timetable during an interview.

The United Kingdom claimed that Iran had struck Cyprus, later confirming that Cyprus was not struck. Palau and Marshall Islands flagged ships were targeted by Iran off the coast of Oman.

The E3 concluded that proportionate military defensive measures against Iran may be used if they get targeted.

Saudi Arabian crowned Prince Salman has vowed to employ military force against Iran and called Iran's strikes "cowardly" as Saudi Arabia's airspace was closed to both Israel and the United States when the attacks began.

Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, and Beersheba faced Iranian strikes. The US Embassy in Kuwait was also struck with no reported casualties. Qatar faced two airstrikes from Iran. Cyprus was struck by an Iranian strikes, prompting Greece to deploy frigates and F-16s. Iran later stated that they struck Cyprus so the Americans would leave Cyprus.

A IRCG officer stated that any ship coming through the Strait of Hormuz would be set ablaze and no oil will leave the area.

Qatar becomes the first nation during the attack to shoot down an Iranian aircraft when they shot down two Su-24 Bombers.

The United States bombed the Natanz Nuclear Facility and also hitting two hospitals.

A friendly fire incident occured when the Kuwait Air Force accidentally shot down 3 US F-15 Fighters. This incident is still being reviewed but it is confirmed that it was accidental and was not targeted on the suspect of it being American.

Saudi Arabia claimed that Israel landed boots inside Iran. No major news outlet has confirmed these allegations.

Hezbollah and Israel exchanged strikes on one another. Hezbollah struck Israel in retaliation for the death of Khamenei. Lebanon was not happy about Hezabollah's strikes and banned military activities by Hezbollah after the strikes. Israel responded by striking southern Lebanon, where Hezbollah was, and killed the head of Hezbollah's intelligence headquarters.

The United States and Israel strikes the Supreme National Security Council headquarters in Tehran.

Debris from an airstrike in Iran hit an UNESCO World Heritage Site, prompting UNESCO to state that hitting an UNESCO World Heritage Site is against international law. The damage was by accident so no punishments will be handed out as far as we are aware.

Israel begins invading Lebanon for Hezbollah.

Trump claims that this war with Iran will end for a big victory for Iran. Trump also urges the Iranian people to rise up and take back the Iranian government. Pete Hegseth said that he would not rule out sending American soldiers to Iran to fight, although Trump stated that there was no need for American soldiers to land in Iran.

Many sources claim Qatar struck Iran, although Qatar denies these claims.

IRGC claims it will start hitting all economic hubs in the Middle East and any European military involvement would be considered an act of war.

Iran held a meeting to choose a new Ayatollah. This meeting was bombed by Israel, killing the majority of the people in the meetings

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the US/Israeli attacks on Iran will intensify.

Qatar arrested 10 individuals for operating as a cell for the IRGC in Qatari territory.

A Russian-made Iranian jet was shot down over Tehran. This marks the first time a F-35 shot down a manned fighter jet in air-to-air combat and the first time the Israeli Air Force shot down an aircraft since 1985.

Iran launched strikes against an air base just south of Doha, Qatar.

The United States begins evacuating non-essential workers in Cyprus.

A Greek F-16 shot down a Lebanese drone near Cyprus.

NATO shot down a ballistic missile headed for Turkey. This incident has enacted Article 4 of NATO.

The submarine USS Charlotte sunk the IRIS Dena off the coast of Sri Lanka. This is the first time since 1945 that an American submarine sunk an enemy ship and the first time since the Falkland War that any submarine sunk a ship. 32 people were rescued by the Sri Lanka Navy.

A video that was used to claim that Iran had hit the USS Abraham Lincoln was fact checked to be false, being a video from a 2022 Malaysian Navy Drill.

Azerbaijan got struck twice by Iranian drones. Following this attack, Azerbaijan pulled all diplomats from Iran.

The UK alarms went off in their bases in Cyprus twice. This caused panick and self evacuations from the local population.

The UK stated they will defend the airspace of Jordan from Iran while Italy, the Netherlands, and Spain sent warships to protect Cyprus. Ireland stated they will also join if Cyprus asked by NATO or Cyprus.

Trump now claims that there are no time limits on how long the attacks on Iran will last. Hegseth stated that the war had only began.

An Iranian tanker was interned by the Sri Lanka Navy. This is the first time a ship has been interned by a neutral nation since WWII.

An Iranian terrorist plot in Azerbaijan was prevented by local law enforcement in Azerbaijan.

The US and Israel executed strikes on infrastructure in Iran. The US also sent a third aircraft carrier the USS George H. W. Bush to the Middle East.

The British aircraft carrier HMS Prince of Wales was place in the area.

It is estimated that Iran only has less than 1000 missiles left.

Israel strikes Iranian oil facilities, killing 4 people. Kuwait has reported that 2 Kuwaiti officers had been killed.

The UK intercepted a drone headed for Iraq

NATO confirms they intercepted a second ballistic missile over Turkish airspace.

Donald Trump said the war was very much complete to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump later stated that it is the beginning of building a new country.

Syria supports Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah after Hezbollah struck a city in Southern Syria.

Iran targeted US Air Bases in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

Hezbollah strikes just outside Damascus.

Israel has issued an urgent evacuation of southern Beirut in Lebanon

According to the United Kingdom Maratime Trade Operation agency, a cargo ship caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz after it was hit by a projectile.

11 B-1 and B-52 US Bombers were deployed to RAF Fairford in the UK.

A branch of Bank Sepah in Tehran was struck.

Iran reports they hit a US-based medical supply company with a cyber attack.

Akbar Ghaffari, Iran's deputy Intelligence Minister, was killed during an airstrike.

Witnesses say that Iranian troops have been deployed in cities.

UNICEF has reported that 1,100 children have been injured or killed during the attacks. 200 reportedly killed in Iran, 91 in Lebanon, 4 in Israel, and 1 in Kuwait. They have reported that these numbers will only go higher as the violence in the Middle East continues.

The Popular Mobilization Forces militia's 18th brigade headquarters in Iraq has been hit.

IRGC reported they fired 10 ballestic missiles at Tel Aviv, Israel. Israel reports 124 has been injured in this strike.

Iraq suspends all oil terminal operations.

Israel reports that 58 people have been hospitalized from a missile strike

Iranian missiles were intercepted over Turkish airspace for the third time.

The US has conducted large strikes on Kharg Island. Around 90 military targets were struck.

Abu Ali al-Askari, Kata'ib Hezbollah security commander, was killed in an airstrike in Baghdad, Iraq.

Israel strikes Shiraz and the industrial city of Isfahan.

Iran backed strikes hit a diplomatic hub in Baghdad, injuring 4 people.

Ali Larijani was killed in Tehran.

Pro-Iranian militia in Baghdad, Iraq, launched multiple drones against the US Embassy in Baghdad.

World leaders are expressing worries about the violent escalation in Lebanon.

Israel confirms the death of Ali Larijani.

European leaders have rejected calls for naval assistance in the Strait of Hormuz.

In the United States, Democrats began to protest. These people began waving the old Iranian flag and claimed the US was there only for oil and to insert American ideology in the Middle East. Polls showed that most Americans were opposed to US intervention of Iran. When asked about this, Trump stated that he doesn't care about polling.

However, the reaction is much different for Iranian refugees and Iranian civilians. Most Iranian civilians celebrated the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The refugees fled Iran because of how oppressing and murderous the Iranian regime was. Many Iranian civilians celebrated because Khamenei ruthlessly murdered over 40,000 protesters. A War in Iran Protest in the US was crashed by many Iranians flooding the streets celebrating the death of Khamenei and praising the US and Israel for the actions.

In Iran, Khamenei's statue was torn down, many Iranians began pointing the middle finger at pictures of Khamenei, remembering those who were lost during the horrid Protest Massacres. There has also been pro-regime protests against the United States and Israel. Some Iranians celebrating in Iran has been attacked, shot, or killed by Iran's security forces

NATO stated that they are supportive of the Iranian regime change and they are "supportive" of the US strikes on Iran and has stated that Iran is a threat.

There are many countries that call for peace in mixed reactions, some condemning the US and Israeli strikes while others condemn Iran counter attacks.

The US and other nations have also noted that there has been betting on how the war will unfold, with Polymarket being a notable site that has had these bets.

This one could be a little controversial to bring up. Just to disclaim here, all of Iranian Terror Cells are Islamic. This does not mean I am Islamaphobic, just going to bring up the facts we know so far.

In Texas, following the death of Khamenei, a man with a shirt saying "Property of Allah" started shooting at a parking lot. 2 people were killed and more were injured. He was caught soon after.

There was a bomb threat on a plane that came from one of the Terror Cells. The plane landed without issue and he was promptly arrested.
