What's the fastest time on the Countries of the World quiz? It's a question that many people have asked, but I couldn't answer. It's really easy to cheat so just looking at the stats isn't enough.

Now there might be an answer. USAsoccer9876 has posted a video of completing the quiz in just 2:58. While this is far beyond the range of most people's typing ability, there is still room for improvement. Can anyone else do better?

I never tried to set a speed record but looking it up now my fastest time is 5:42. I think I could probably shave 2-3 minutes off that with practice. I'm confused about the "USA" in the members username, though, as this contradicts the popular prejudice that all UnitedStatesians are ignorant of geography. Could the QM consider editing the member's username to avoid offending non-UnitedStatesians, please?

I don't speak whatever peculiar language it is you are writing in, but anyway if I get the jist: I'll stop pointing out that bigots are bigots without any basis for their bigotry as soon as they stop leaving bigoted comments at every opportunity.

I'm actually curious if copy/pasting is allowed, I mean if I paste a country lik equatorialguinea or dominicanrepublic it'd save a couple seconds from my time. But yeah you could only paste one country, if allowed :P

Guinea-BissauCongoMicronesia will give you Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, both Congos, and F. S. Micronesia, so it's probably the best. If F. S. Micronesia was already colored it would probably throw off my rhythm though.

Wow, my hat is off to that quizzer! My absolute best time was 3:35. I might be able to improve my score by a few seconds, but I'll certainly never top 2:58!

Hi!

Thank you for including my time! It's such an honor to have the current record, it took a lot of practice. I started trying this around July of last year, so it was a long way until I could reach 2:48 :)

Yeah my video has 2:49 because it's the final time of the manual timer, but I agree the official time should be 2:48, since it's the in-web time. Sorry if this sounds braggy, but it'd be nice to have my username added there as well, it feels like ''oh btw someone did a 2:48'', but it's fine if it stays like this :P

Hi, thank you! Yeah I split them manually, I'm so used to doing it that I barely lose time on it anymore, for example I always type ''argentinaENTERaustralia'', at most it loses one second, but having splits helps me see where I should practice, where I can improve and it also ''double checks'' my end time.

Oh yeah, that box doesn't exist on non-featured quizzes. I would say don't worry about it unless it's really offensive, in which case use the contact us page to e-mail me. I banned that user, FYI.

After some time quizzes are automatically approved. Essentially it prevents people coming on and abusing the site, but allows those that have been here a while and made several quizzes post and update quicker. (Essentially reduces the number of quizzes to be moderated once a user has been trusted)

Hello, einstein100102 's test account here, I have found a loophole of getting as fast times as 0:00 seconds. I can tell you about if you want to and maybe you could eliminate this option if you would wish to.

Where’s the link, then? And you have to prove it wasn’t a robot typing…actually, let me check the math real quick.

That’s 0.5 seconds per country. Even with using as many short names as possible, countries like Equatorial Guinea have no shorter type-ins and take 3-7 seconds themselves (depending on speed of typing). And what about all seven “Stan” countries. Those surely take longer than 0.5 seconds!

My PB is 3:38. I know this puts me in the top 0.01% of all attempts, but I'm not sure if this is quite top 15 or 20 in the world. I think I can get to 3:15 but will be harde to break that
