History

The vicinity near Multnomah County had been inhabited by the Chinookan people, the Multnomah being one. Multnomah means "little river" in Chinookan.

When the Oregon Territory existed, Multnomah County was created from two other counties, Washington and Clackamas. It was created by a petition from a business in Portland who complained about the location of Hillsboro and portions of Portland's tax revenue used to support Washington County farmers.

Miscellaneous & Fun Facts

Multnomah County is predominantly democratic due to its urban population. It is the smallest county in Oregon. As of 2023, it is 82nd for the most populous counties in the country. The county has had a steadfast decline in population due to rising costs in housing and violence.

However, it is great for tourism, housing the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Portland Art Museum, Oxbow Regional Park, Providence Park, the Pittock Mansion, the Willamette River, and a lot more!

When doing the mi^2, you can use the superscript feature of the text box. Click inside the text box, and look at the bar at the top. It includes things like bolding, italics, underlings, etc. There is the option to superscript, so you can use this instead of ^. It would look cleaner, but it's a suggestion of course :) Your blog is great without this!
