My Pet Worm

I found Amadeus in my backyard on 20th March, 2026. When I found him he looked a little like this (I unfortunately do not have any of his baby pictures):

I put him in a plastic jar with dirt, some flowers, and a few small pieces of wet paper towel. I would water the soil when it got dry and occasionally give him some coffee grounds to eat. One day, I decided to put a cantaloupe seed in there out of curiosity. Sure enough, it sprouted! The sprout grew all the way to the lid of the jar until it eventually began to die, giving Amadeus something more to eat. Sometimes, I would be able to see Amadeus squirming around the outside of his jar or coming up to the surface to eat something, but this past week and a little while before, I hadn't seen him. Sadly, I  thought he'd passed away so I emptied his jar to look for him and give him a proper burial. And there he was, in all of his glory, fully grown. He was writhing around the very bottom of the jar and I was shocked to see how much he'd grown. In celebration, I cleaned his jar and gave him some more to eat. I hope to have many more happy days with Amadeus. I love him very much.
