In a Ditloid, you must guess the full phrase that is abbreviated. For example, "26 L of the A" stands for "26 letters of the alphabet." The name was coined by William Hartston in the Daily Express newspaper, coming from the first clue in the puzzle they featured: 1=DitLoID (answer: One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich).
