Alps to Andalusia-Prologue

Hello there, before I get into the places. I want to introduce this virtual road trip. Its around 2600km and goes through a few countries( Notably Austria, Switzerland, France and Spain but also small stops at Italy( Aosta ), and Liechtenstein . I'm starting at Innsbruck( really Jenbach but its close enough ), Austria and making my way to Tarifa, Spain. I want to give massive credit to Toowise, he's doing a similar one for US route one so check out his series if you haven't already at the  Virtual Road Trip Route 1 USA. I'm going to provide a basic description, one or two images and my distance travelledAnyway, lets start tripping to our first three locations, where everything starts.

1)Jenbach,Austria

This is our starting spot, more specifically at this random Lidl. You know what we should do counters for different things, Lidl's, Football Stadiums etc.

Our starting spot

Jenbach was first mentioned in a document in 1269 as Ymbach. In 1945, 31 tons of bombs were dropped on the railway station during Operation Clarion in order to prevent the Reischsbahn from transporting war-material.

I would explore more, but we have a lot to do so we're taking the autobahn to the next stop. But on the way I found the train station.

2)Wiesing,Austria

Ok to be fair, I didn't even intend on coming here, but I  found it trying to go to Schwaz. Anyway, little appears to be known about Wiesing. It has a population of just over 2,000. It's got this nice looking restauraunt I guess.

3)Schwaz,Austria

Schwaz is a municipality in Tyrol( like all the others ). The town has a 2011 population of around 12,000. Schwaz was an important silver mining during the 15th and 16th centuries. In fact, during that time it was the second largest city in the Austrian Empire, after Vienna.

Nice old town/touristy area

There was also a museum towards the North-East of the town called Museum Der Volker.

Another one to add to the Lidl counter

There's also 2 Aldi's that I've found so... that means that we'll start counting those as well. I wonder who will get the most.

Museum Der Volker

All in all, that was fun. I'm stoppin

Conclusion

In conclusion, we've only travelled about 14 and a half miles( in transitioning ). This was only meant to be an introduction to the whole series.

That means the counter is:

2 Lidls

2 Aldis

0 Stadiums

Next, we're going to be heading to Innsbruck, further through the Alps and close to Liechtenstein. The next one will also be quite short, around 10 just so I can get into the swing of things.

Here's the uhh... general route, as you can see its really far and will take me days.
Here's a more specific route, this is how I'll get to Liechtenstein

The towns that get selected are a ...little ambiguous ut generally it's a combination of population, prestige and being equally spaced out. Anyways goodbye. And once again credit to Toowise!

Great start to this blog. If I'd known we were counting supermarkets I would have done the same. I've passed a couple of Aldis on my trip, no Lidls so far though.

Thanks for the credit, but just one thing....

It's toowise (all lower case) not Toowise with a capital T.

Looking forward to the next episode.

As soon as I read Toowise with a capital T, I knew this comment would be here..

Good read, tb2!! I like this idea of seeing different parts of the world.
