1 million

+13

Don’t have a whole lot to say here but I figured I might as well do something to commemorate the number. Thinking that a million people have taken my quizzes over nearly a decade now is insane - especially since looking back even at quizzes and maps from just a few years ago they were largely not very good. I think a lot of the issue was just that I was so focused on watching the number go up for so long I didn’t take the time to think about what I was doing. Quantity over quality, you know. I’ve been working on updating a lot of my older stuff - the maps I actually care about any amount - to my current standard but it’s a long process. Most of my newer maps take days or at the very least several hours to make and I was pumping out multiple a day at some points in high school. I’m trying to appreciate quizmaking for what I personally get out of it now, which means much more care and much fewer new quizzes.

idk. I’m tired. writing this at midnight presumably a few hours before I hit the milestone. have to be up in 4 hours. Hold on to your youth, kids. Care about what you do. I’m sure this comes across as corny but I’ve been thinking about growing up a lot lately. Jetpunk has been pretty much the only constant throughout my life. it gives me comfort when I’m lonely or sad or feeling the distance between where I am and where all my friends from back home seem to be. it gave me my closest friend (coincidentally, today is his birthday. there has to be some meaning there, right?). not only has it taught me trivia and facts but it’s also been the catalyst toward expanding my worldview - and, ultimately, my maturation as a person. crazy what a website can do to a person.

I wish there was more substance or coherence here but I thought this kind of stream of consciousness thing would be the best representation of myself at this time and I’m writing this as much for myself as I am for jetpunk at large.

geography win, as they say.

Some stuff I’m proud of, if you’re interested:

High Elevation U.S. Cities

Every City in Washington (all the updated ones in this series, really. this is the most rewarding thing I’ve done on jetpunk)

Biggest Cities Within 50KM

Deadliest Wars

Northern Colorado Cities

1,000 Rock Bands

Congratulations Jeremy! (I have to say, I still think of you as CringeDragon).

One million takes is an amazing milestone. I've followed your stats for years, partly because you and I were on a parallel journey for a long time. In fact, I have a few examples.

Total takes in April 2020

Me: 58,219

You: 58,053

August 2020

Me: 94,724

You: 93,420

February 2024

You: 345,957

Me: 343,609

I was ahead of you earlier this year, but a few months ago you passed me for good. You're still putting out some great quizzes. I'm loving the "every city in states" series. All that to say, well done. I'm glad JetPunk has been a positive place for you. The same is true for me. Thanks for writing this blog!

Yeah, no shade to your current moniker but CringeDragon is an excellent username.

Might change it back eventually, we'll see. I went through a phase of changing all my online usernames to more professional alternatives, but I'm starting to come back around to the original as time goes on.
