The Tree of Ténéré was once considered to be the most remote tree in the world. Located in the middle of the Sahara desert in Niger, it was hundreds of kilometers away from the nearest other tree. Somehow, a drunk truck driver managed to hit it and knock it down in 1973.

If you see a platypus, give it space. Male platypuses have a venom-delivering spur on their hind legs. Though not lethal to humans, its effects have been described as "worse than being struck by shrapnel". Painful in itself, the venom also amplifies the body's ability to feel pain from other causes for weeks or months into the future.

CDC Official Update:

A new memetic disease known as CommAD, or Communism Absence Disorder, has been rapidly spreading throughout the world. The places most commonly affected are ex-Soviet republic states, the Chinese SEZ’s, and Massachusetts. The disease manifests in people who suddenly notice a distinct lack of or decrease in communism where they live. Symptoms of CommAD include vandalizing chain restaurants, sending hate mail to Mark Zuckerberg, and renouncing free market practices. The more serious stages of the disease often result in the afflicted doing all they can to move to Cuba. Several unaffected people have been killed by a CommAD patient who threw a Molotov inside a McDonald’s on June 15th. There is no known treatment yet. People who shop at WinCo foods seem to be resistant to the disease. That’s all we know so far. Use hand sanitizer.

i locked on of em in a room and played “ASMR - bf reads Animal Farm - 24 Hour Loop”

By the time i returned my basement was in shambles and “Marx Lovingly Reads You A Manifesto - ASMR” was playing and the basement door was broken off the hinges. Also a bucket of red paint got splattered on my granite. Do not attempt to sequester them into a room. Animal Farm therapy may not work (though this has only been the second test, the first time I accidentally locked up a Christmas enjoyer)

Why did the door creak? Im the only one in this house… Are they still in the building??

A sickle flies thru and imbeds itself into the wall beside me. I barely start the car and peel out the driveway when the hammer wielding menace comes out the door. It seems CAD may have mutated while in my chamber. I’m heading to Uluru. Anyone who wants to regroup w me, y’all can join. CAD-24 (V2) (Subj’t 1) is on the loose.

In October 2006, an animated film was released retelling the classic story of Romeo and Juliet. Except Romeo and Juliet were seals. The movie, titled 'Romeo and Juliet: Sealed with a Kiss,' was directed, edited, and written all by Phil Nibbelink, a former Disney animator. He also voices one of the main characters.

Not only did Nibbelink basically make this movie all on his own, he also animated it entirely himself, which took four and a half years.

Despite all his efforts and a $2 million budget thanks to donations from his friends and family, the movie failed to even crack $500k at the box office.

One of the best examples of a 'passion project' I've ever seen.

Frederick, Prince of Wales and heir apparent to George II of Great Britain, died after sustaining injuries from the impact of a cricket ball or real tennis ball. In recent times though, this has been attributed to a pulmonary embolism.

Even though Frederick dying to a cricket ball may not be true, I personally still find it interesting.

The only other thing that I find notable about Frederick, Prince of Wales, is that he was the father of George III, the same guy who lost the 13 colonies to the Continental Army.

ithkuil has 45 consonants and 13 vowels, 9 configurations, 4 affiliations, 4 perspectives, 6 extensions, 2 essences, 4 contexts and 2 designations (most of these categories arent even existent in any other language). the 15 cases in finnish and 35 cases in hungarian pale in comparison to Ithkuil's 96 CASES. it has about 1800 optional suffixes. it also took the creator almost half a decade to finally finalize the language. i wouldnt really trust the "1 user" wikipedia claims ithkuil to have, since iirc our brain would have to work 6x as fast in order to be able to speak ithkuil fluently. ithkuil doesnt have 6000 roots, but 900. it has 16200 stems though
+2
Level 56

im guessing you used ithkuil.net's 2010/2011 update, but the 2023 version of ithkuil has 31 consonants and 9 vowels, to simplify the language and actually enable someone to speak ithkuil. yes, i would not trust the 1 user wikipedia claims ithkuil to have, because it still is difficult to learn. ithkuil.net states on the 2010/2011 update of the website, that there are 900 roots and 18 stems, making 16200 stems, while on the 2023 update, it states that ithkuil has 6000 roots. everything else said is true about ithkuil 2010/2011 version though, and is listed on the basic morphology page.
