I don't know about that. Often the music of any "genre" that becomes popular and mainstream is among the worst examples of that genre. Though I don't know of any "Nu Metal" better than Limp Bizkit or Korn, I can think of examples of what I said that are worse than either of them.
Not that local. They have multiple gold and platinum certified albums. Though they never had any huge number one hits, they got pretty consistent airplay. You might recognize some of their music if you heard it, like Closer to Fine, Galileo, or Hammer and a Nail.
Yeah, their highest charting single in Europe was #98, unless you count "Dear Mr. President", which I don't because everyone knows it as a Pink song. So maybe a little bit local.
Highest outside their home country a no. 53 in Canada as far as I can see. So almost as local as you get. Doesn't make them an invalid question though. I was surprised at how many people remembered Chumbawumba, and now I've looked at it seems to have been a global hit. You learn a new thing.
I got seven and should have had another one - somehow skipped the Whitney Houston clue. This was the decade my kids were in high school, but I was surprised that didn't seem to help me on this one except for the boy band.
