I remember it because it's "Mc-Co-Naughty" and then you just change the "t" to an "e."

So I guess now Denzel's at that point where he'll get nominated for just about anything these days, huh?

He was awesome in Flight and worthy of that nomination. I haven't seen Roman J. Israel, but he got rave reviews for it, which is all the more impressive because the movie itself was not well-received by critics or audience -- but everyone seems to agree that Denzel was great. I haven't seen Fences either, but it's an artsy film adaptation of a Pulitzer-prize winning play by a great playwright, and Washington had already played the role on stage, so he was comfortable with it. In other words, the nomination for Fences was no surprise. Viola Davis, who played the female lead both on stage and in the film, was nominated for and won an Oscar for her role. It's one of those movies.

Daniel Day-Lewis gets nominated for pretty much every role he plays (well-deserved, in my opinion), but he is much less prolific than Denzel. Washington takes an interesting role pretty much every year.

I’m not saying Denzel’s bad by any means, but it just seems like he’s become another one of those Oscar favorites; almost anything he does is sure to get him nominated, kinda like how Meryl Streep gets nominated nearly every year because she’s Meryl Streep.

Then again, what do I know? I don’t choose who gets nominated and I’m not an acting critic. I’m just some dude who loves movies. Not mad or anything, just spitballing.
