Not at all. What's in bad taste that there are people who don't know the countries in which this happens. I missed Sierra Leone myself and I feel ashamed. People and dying and suffering and we don't care enough to remember WHERE. It's good to be reminded.
Of course it's possible for objective facts to be in poor taste on a quiz site. I would think that, say, a quiz identifying photos of famous corpses would be in bad taste.
I agree, the world's not a perfect place and people need to know about this, although I'm pretty sure you'd have to be living in a box not to know what's going on over there, it's all over the news.
The DRC had nothing to do with the 2013-16 Ebola outbreak; it had another outbreak in the year 2014 that went unnoticed because the DRC had seen EBV multiple times before and the world was focused on the much larger outbreak in west Africa.
The only case registrated in Senegal was a young guinean who has been healed since.
Other fact is that the current "small" Ebola epidemy in DR Congo is not linked to the one in West Africa. Actualliy, it's deadlier, but as it happens in a rather unhinhabited area the number of deathes is low
Now that this is all virtually over, I have to say I agree with the people who feel this is in poor taste. We can be aware of the tragedy without trivializing it in a game.
Quizzes are also educational, with some "fun" involved even more so. What was in bad taste were people who just kne that ebola is in Africa and therefore the whole continent must be avoided...
So, are we "trivializing" every war, death, serial killer, famine, or other travesty of history that appears in a question? I think it's a foregone conclusion that every one of us on this site is here to learn new things. It's not like we're playing Minecraft.
Why would you need 4 minutes on a quiz with five answers? If you know it was in west Africa, you'll fly through it. If you don't, you still have enough time to guess most of the countries in Africa.
I don't get the complaints. Should we also remove the quizzes on war, crime, poverty, etc.? Should we only have quizzes on Magical Men from Happy-Land, in a gumdrop house on Lollipop Lane?
An interesting idea for a quiz. As one of those who went out there to assist in bringing the tragic epidemic under control, I could see for myself the devastating effect it was having on the Sierra Leonean health service and on the country as whole - certainly not just affecting those who died. The people were great and included some of the bravest health workers that I've ever had the privelege to meet. The coast (though I never made it there) looks wonderful for would-be travellers. I hope that somebody reading this will go - they need all the financial help they can get to rebuild.
I am a member of the same very tight-knit community that Ashoka Mukpo is from; you could say he's like family to me. I followed his whole ordeal and hung on every news report of his health, and ultimately, recovery. For what it's worth, I was not offended by this quiz, since I believe that knowledge is vital, and I saw nothing disrespectful in how this was presented (and only the one offensive comment).

covid quiz might as well just be a countries of the world quiz minus oceania.
