I deleted the entire comment thread. I am going to add a feature to disable comments entirely on specific quizzes including this one. We've had a lot of people with extreme right-wing and left-wing views posting lately and things have gotten weird. We've always had a pretty strict moderation policy, and people generally like it that way. Sorry if you disagree.

As weird as using 'gotten' in an otherwise sensible sentence?

What are you talking about? "gotten" is the past participle of "get." Things get weird. Things have gotten weird. These are correct sentences.

'gotten' is not used in British English.

Maybe not anymore, but it was good enough for Shakespeare: To quote two examples: "You told not how Henry the Sixth hath lost / All that which Henry Fifth had gotten?" (Henry VI part III), or "I was a poor groom of thy stable, king, / When thou wert king; who, travelling towards York, / With much ado at length have gotten leave /To look upon my sometimes royal master's face. (Richard II)

^Are you suggesting we also bring back 'thou' and 'hath' and 'wert' just because they're in Shakespeare?

Listen, I’m sorry for defending Belgium, okay? I just forgot it’s a big no-no for this site. Now that I know the consequences I’ll be sure not to do it again.

There are only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Belgians.

I changed my mind and we are not going to add a feature to disable comments on quizzes. But we might be a little more liberal with bans in the future.
