Well, it's official. I think i'm finally getting old. 14/20, but 3 i had never even heard of. Normally i've at least heard of or seen the celebrities in question.
I got ..one... I recognize some names and or faces.. only a few though, but coming up with the names myself yea that wasn't gonna happen. (about 6 names and 3 faces, which overlap)
I must live under a bigger rock. I got 7. I can't complain, though. I doubt any of them would recognize me either. (unless, of course, they tripped over the rock I was living under...in which case I would probably yell at them to get off my lawn)
I most happily achieved a big fat ZERO on this quiz. I did recognize Kelce, but couldn't think of his name due to shutting out all things whats-her-name.
People like myself feed our superiority complexes by learning more than we ought to about "academic culture" – things like history and geography – and flaunting it. It separates one from the crowd.
People like 29er feed their superiority complexes by refusing to learn anything at all about "common culture" – things like sports and pop music – and flaunting it. This too separates one from the crowd.
Some people are in both groups. Both groups can find what we crave on Jetpunk.
Is this Glenn Powell person a celebrity? Is he really? I managed to get all 19 others even though I’m old… I guess regularly hearing young people talk about celebrities and such helped a lot.
I mean he's been in three big hit movies since 2022, so why shouldn't he be a celebrity? He was one of the stars of a billion dollar best picture nominee, that's pretty famous
Paul and Kendrick came up in the 2010s, but they're still very visible. Aubrey Plaza has had a bit of a resurgence in recent years. As for Offerman...no idea. Parks & Rec ended in like 2015, and he hasn't done anything notable since then. He is way out of place here.
He won an Emmy for best guest appearance (for The Last Of Us) in January last year, seems a bit tenuous for that to make him a 2020s celebrity but I guess that's why he's here?
Kendrick had that massive moment with the Drake beef, when he dropped meet the grahams and Not Like Us it felt like he ruled all of pop culture for a couple days. its certainly one of the biggest moments in music so far this decade
Interesting question, but a stat that's probably not available. Almost certainly aging along with the QM, whose generational bias is unavoidably present (observation, not accusation).
Not sure what you mean, exactly. She does have a striking and unique face, which is probably what got her the attention of talent scouts in the first place. She's done well with her opportunities since.
didn't recognize Aubrey Plaza at all (is that a weird photo or am I just out of touch with her current look?). I tried "Ciaran Murphy" instead of "Cillian Murphy", should have tried just "Murphy".
I think everybody here claiming that they must be "getting old" is missing a very crucial fact about our modern world: Pop culture is more fractured than it used to be, and celebrities are simply less famous.
The most sold album of 1984 was Michael Jackson's Thriller, having sold an estimated 70 million copies worldwide. The tracklist includes classics that nearly everybody is familiar with: Billie Jean, Beat It, and of course the title track. Contrast this with the most sold album of 2024: The Tortured Poets Department. It sold about 2.5 million copies worldwide, and I'm sure a lot of you, regardless of age, have never heard a single song off of it.
It's the age of internet algorithms. Every social media platform will try to narrow in on all of your most niche interests. Nearly everybody on my twitter timeline will know who Mach-Hommy or Mafumafu are, and I'm willing to bet most of you, regardless of age, have never heard of either of them.
You make some really valid points, but the example of sold copies is not a good one. It excludes the fact that streaming is a thing now and is extremely popular with the younger generation. People are just 'buying' less products directly from artists, just like they are going to the cinema less. I'm not a fan but Taylor Swift, although only 2.5 million copies sold on that album has 93 million monthly listeners only on Spotify. She is without a doubt one of the most famous artists of all time. Internet algorithms do fracture the pop culture, but a lot of celebrities are still extremely famous worldwide, even though they might not reach an older generation
So you know whose face to punch should you meet them. :) I don't know what it is about Offerman, but I regularly forget his name. Love the guy though, really great in both comedic and dramatic roles.

Harry Styles and Harry Kane, not sure if it’s because I’m English or old

Anyway, 12/20 from this 20y/o. Great quiz
I must disappoint you if you scored really bad, because these are all pretty famous people nowadays. So you are unfortunately getting old I guess :p.
