Apparently Roger Bannister accomplished the feat with "minimal training", while practicing to be a junior doctor.
Oddly similar to Alan Turing, who could run a world-class marathon in his time. Wikipedia says while at Bletchley Park he "occasionally ran the 40 miles (64 km) to London when he was needed for meetings".
He was found not guilty, and in another case the plaintiffs settled in advance. Therefore, I for one, would have been happy to leave my children in his care…
Even if he was 100% innocent of sexual abuse charges he was still a sandwich short of a picnic, I don't think I'd be calling him up to check his babysitting rates to be honest.
They're just changing everything, it feels like! This website is nothing like it used to be! So many good memories, but I just can stand all the change sometimes! Perhaps it was never going to be the same without Kal....
Super creative idea for a quiz! Mad props to y'all running Jetpunk for continuing to explore new quiz formats. This worked a muscle in my brain that I don't think I've ever used on this website before. Awesome work.
Got the heart transplant question's exact year correct first try.. no idea why I thought that Space Invaders was invented within 10 years of 1910 though
Love this new quiz format (no I don't because I was out before I got to the right hand column). I have no idea how you'd do it, but just thinking out loud here, would be a good feature if you get the year bang on, you get a life back.
Is it cheating to guess 1899 or 2000 if you're not sure but think it's a very early or late thing...? The quiz apparently doesn't penalise you for wrong guesses outside the 1900s.
The loophole was that guessing 1899 essentially gave you a free guess for 1900-1909; you weren't dinged if the answer was 1921, for example. If you guessed 1899, then 1920 if it didn't work, you could cover 1900-1930 only risking one life.
Same coming from above with 2000 - you could get 1970-1999 very cheaply.
Cheat code no longer in use though, so back to "knowing stuff" I suppose!
The Prius question is bugged. I tried 2010 and ... nothing happened. This made me convinved that I was within ten years and tried all of the 2010s cos I didn't get a whammy, and only failed once I tried 2009.
Pretty easy, only missed four. Mostly because I didn't move on after a bad guess, only after a second one lol

Overall did horribly barely got half lmao
