First thing that popped into my head for a common supervillain weapon was a Luger. Not sure what makes this any more incorrect than what you picked.

Never heard any supervillains complain about a lack of frickin' sharks with frickin' lugers on their heads... I think lugers are more a weapon for run-of-the-mill villains, not villains of the super variety.

The right answer is Death Ray so it covers from the hand held laser gun to the Death star. Whatever the technology involved it is a ray and it causes death at any range.

Needless to say that Laser technology is a very particular one and not any single thing made of light, and often used also by heroes. But no hero shall use a "Death something" because they are expected to be better than that. Of course I don't known what would do the next franchise of Deadpool but still..

2005 would also be the last year anyone actually watched Crash.

Saw Stallone's name, answer began with R, so I wrote Rocky. Then I couldn't figure out how Danny Ocean could start with a Y. Lost a couple of seconds there going back and actually reading the clue.
