You actually hear Ho Chi Minh more now, especially among travelers. In Vietnam, Saigon refers only to the center while HCMC is for the modern metropolis.
One of the few airports I have actually used as I lived there 8 years and I missed it!! BHX = Birmingham International - the full title of the airport - just as LAX is Los Angeles International....
Only got 25, and gave up with 1 minute to go. The ones I got were either ones I had heard of, or had been to, or just guesses. I would never have guessed the rest if I'd sat here for an hour!! YYZ for Toronto??!! Wow.
Yeah, same here. I still didn't get 100%, but I got all but three. That was part of the fun though...usually I think quizzes have too much time but in this case I enjoyed trying to guess which major cities might be on the quiz.
Some I knew, some I figured out by letter, but I admit a few I only got by guessing big cities. A yellow box could an option. Though I am actually fine with it the way it is.
Great quiz! This gives me a good idea as well to make a version with real icao codes instead! Should be easier because icao codes also sort of give away the country so will have to compensate with either harder locations or more airports
Very surprised Atlanta wasn't on the list. Anyway, I did rather lousy. I only got most of my answers by guessing major cities that had international airports. I'm too poor to travel internationally (or like, at all). :P
Atlanta popped into my head too, and I am from europe. Some airports you have just heard more about than others. Usually ( though not allways) the big ones.
It worked once for me I remember and I was very pleasantly surprised. Trouble is so many words begin "la" that you'd get it without trying too often...
It is weird how the mind works, sometimes all knowledge is accessible and sometimes it locks up. Like only 42% got perth...
If you would have asked which city starts with Per... I think 90+% would ve gotten it ( on this site, not on the street). It is like almost totally written already.
Can't believe I wrote "Peking" and then gave up. Beijing is Peking in Finnish. Got 17 right, been in 14 of these cities/airports. Or 15 - can't remember about Birmingham.
(knowledge from CGP Grey)
Got 26, very happy with that :) (missed sgn, fll, cun, bom (really should ve seen that..), bkk and nbo)
