Quizmaster, you might want to add that this is how these "sounds" are rendered in English. As mentioned in the comments, some of the actual sounds are quite different.
And for those who want to hear what real frogs and toads sound like, you can listen to the 1958 recordings that the Smithsonian put out on a CD forty years later by going to http://www.folkways.si.edu/sounds-of-north-american-frogs/science-nature/album/smithsonian. Great samples, along with the monotone narration by a professor of herpetology that adds a nostalgic flavor to the whole affair.
Animals do not speak the same language the world over. For example, in Sierra Leone, roosters crow "kokorioko," and in Thailand the sound is a distinct, "ayeyeyee," as best I can spell it. You had to be there.
Couple of animals "sound" differently here in Poland: our dogs go "how-how", pigeons go "grooo", pigs go "kfeack" horses go "eee-ha-ha" and frogs go "coom-coom" (I tried to use the English phonology, so it looks pretty weird)
could people stop complaining about this quiz? First of all, it is in the kid's tag. Second of all, who cares if a quiz is easy? Why does it matter to you? If you are complaining that it is an easy 5 points, you must have taken the quiz to have made that comment. So it's only an undeserved 5 points if it's not YOUR 5 points? And third, different languages have different animal sounds. This quiz could reasonably be difficult for an adult whose 1st language is not English. Try taking an animal sounds quiz made by an Indonesian, Finnish, or Eritrean person.
What's the difference between a rooster, an American patriot and Mae West? The rooster says, "Cock-a-doodle doo!" The American patriot says, "Yankee doodle doo!" And Mae West says, "Any dude'll do!"
Supposed animal sounds vary in different languages. For the Greek versions listen to Donald Swann here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nRlAPtoM0g So this quiz is unfair on anyone not brought up speaking English. Perhaps you could use clips of real animal sounds instead?
;)
JK, this quiz was a piece of cake. I got 100%, and I assume most people did too.
